PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Historic WWII Aircraft, Veterans, and Families to Gather in Riverside for America’s 250th Birthday Bash Free July 4th event at Riverside Municipal Airport will bring history to life with warbirds, skydivers, classic cars, WWII displays, youth activities, and veteran recognition
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (June 2026) — As the nation prepares to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, the Inland Empire Wing of the Commemorative Air Force is inviting the community to experience history up close at America’s 250th Birthday Bash, a free family-friendly July 4th celebration at Riverside Municipal Airport.
The event will take place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and will feature historic WWII aircraft, classic cars, WWII vehicles and displays, reenactors, youth aviation activities, food trucks, live 1940s-era music, and a patriotic skydiver flag jump from the Wing’s historic C-53 “D-Day Doll.”
For many families, the event will be more than a Fourth of July outing. It will be a chance for children to stand beside the aircraft, vehicles, uniforms, and stories that connect directly to the men and women who served our country.
“This is the kind of history you can see, hear, and feel,” said Gary Stark, Wing Leader of the Inland Empire Wing. “When a child walks up to a WWII aircraft, talks to a pilot, meets a reenactor, or hears the sound of a radial engine, history becomes real. That is how we honor the past and inspire the next generation.”
The centerpiece of the day will be a patriotic ceremony and skydiver flag jump. Skydivers are scheduled to jump from the D-Day Doll carrying the American flag and POW/MIA flag, followed by the National Anthem as the flags descend under canopy.
Event highlights include:
Historic aircraft and static aircraft displays (WWII aircraft rides available for purchase)
Classic car show, WWII vehicles, reenactors, and living history displays
Skydiver flag jump with the American flag and POW/MIA flag during the National Anthem
Civil Air Patrol cadets and Kids Aviation Passport activities (flight simulator, paper airplane challenge)
Live music from D-Day Doll & The Pistons, a 1940s-era swing band
Food trucks and museum access
Admission to the event is completely free.
