I’m grateful to Senator Adam Schiff and Congressman Mark Takano for their leadership in advocating for the modernization of aging FAA infrastructure, including the air traffic control tower at Riverside Municipal Airport.

During my recent meetings in Washington, D.C., our team discussed Riverside’s priorities with both offices. Alongside our federal advocacy partners and airport leadership, we emphasized the urgent need to replace one of the nation’s oldest FAA-owned control towers and highlighted Riverside Municipal Airport’s importance to Southern California’s aviation and aerospace economy.

It is encouraging to see leaders in both the House and Senate pressing the FAA for greater clarity on how tower replacement projects are prioritized and funded. Their engagement strengthens Riverside’s voice as we continue advocating for this critical investment.

While this is not yet a funding announcement, it represents meaningful progress. I will continue working with our congressional delegation, the FAA, and our local partners to ensure Riverside remains at the forefront of this effort.

I was proud to join OHMIO as they unveiled their first-of-its-kind autonomous shuttle platooning technology, allowing multiple shuttles to operate together as one coordinated unit.

By expanding capacity as demand grows, reducing energy use per passenger, and moving more people without requiring additional infrastructure, this innovation offers a practical and scalable vision for the future of public transportation.

OHMIO continues to be an important partner in Riverside’s growing advanced manufacturing and technology ecosystem. Their investment and collaboration are helping position our city as a place where the technologies of tomorrow are developed today.

Congratulations to the entire OHMIO team on this remarkable achievement. I’m proud that Riverside is part of their journey.

I spoke before the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board to share concerns about the proposed Regional Stormwater Permit and its potential impact on Riverside residents, businesses, and essential City services.

Protecting water quality is important, but we also need a balanced and financially responsible approach.

Today, during my final City Council meeting as Mayor Pro Tem, I was proud to present a proclamation recognizing July as Parks and Recreation Month and celebrating the power of parks and recreation throughout Riverside.

Over the past fiscal year, our Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department welcomed 1.8 million visitors to community centers and hosted more than 50 community events attended by over 700,000 people, including Riverside’s first-ever drone shows.

Thank you to the dedicated staff who care for our parks and serve residents across our city. This is the power of parks and recreation! 🌳
