As demand for COVID-19 vaccinations wanes locally, Cook County is shifting its strategy to redeploy resources to support hyperlocal, community-based vaccinations initiatives to areas with a high vulnerability index and low vaccination rates.

As a result, Cook County Health's remaining 3 mass vaccination sites in Des Plaines, Matteson, and Forest Park have now been closed. Meanwhile, vaccines from Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson all continue to be offered at every Cook County Health facility listed below.

Every person age 12 and older is encouraged to get vaccinated. The vaccine is safe, free, and no one will be turned away. Neither citizenship status nor insurance coverage is required to get the shot.

June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month

The Riverside Township Community Resource Center wants to remind everyone that June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, more than 6 million Americans of all ages have Alzheimer’s, with the number of new and existing cases growing rapidly. By 2050, the number of people age 65 and older with Alzheimer’s may grow to a projected 12.7 million, barring the development of medical breakthroughs to prevent, slow, or cure Alzheimer’s disease. Raising awareness is an important first step towards finding a cure.

If you, or someone you love, is struggling with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia and are in need of resources and support, please reach out to the Community Resource Center at (708) 853-9578 or by emailing the Resource Center at: [email protected]. Help raise awareness in the Riverside Township community by sharing this post.

Riverside Township is still providing Essential Services (FOOD PANTRY, NURSE'S CLOSET, GENERAL ASSISTANCE AND EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE) and will continue during the COVID-19 Shelter in Place. We will be in the office with reduced staff during regular hours. The front doors of the building will be unlocked, but our office doors are locked for the protection of staff and the public. We ask that you CALL BEFORE COMING IN. 708-442-4400. Once you come in, get our attention through the glass windows that surround our office doors, and we will direct you further. Requests for assistance will be handled by appointment, and we will be maintaining social distancing. Nurse's Closet has a clip board with the request form at a high top table in the hallway that can be slipped under our front door. We will not be bringing you downstairs to select your equipment, but will instead bring the equipment up to you. Food Pantry will check IDs through the window and will place the tote bags outside our other door for "curbside pick-up". We will have a notary on duty, and please call us for instructions, or email us at [email protected]. A Big Shout Out to Hauser Junior High Administrators who are helping us keep the Food Pantry stocked from the Food Drive! Due to Covid-19, the Assessor’s Office can only provide telephone-meetings for residents; no walk-ins. Because the County Assessor is no longer accepting paper appeals, the entire process will be completed online. Call: 708-447-7700 or email: [email protected] Finally, the Mental Health Board's Community Resource Center personnel will NOT be in the office, but will be checking voicemail if you need any assistance they can provide: 708-853-9578.
Need your dog trained or walked; why not both? I am a Professional Dog trainer who competes nationally in dog sports such as agility. No Rover armature here. At Dogletics I offer walks, runs, private training, and daily walking combined with training. This way you can have a well behaved, mentally stimulated/happy pup without the cost of boarding school or daycare. We have the most up to date technology when it comes to your dog’s walk. In addition to Rover-like scheduling and photo capabilities, we offer live streams of your pup’s walk using our Go Pro Live Technology. Don’t forget to take advantage of our GPS/Fitbit collar that tracks your dog’s whereabouts at all times and could win your pup a free walk if he/she gets the most steps walked in a month.
