I’m proud to cast my vote for Doug Fiefia for Utah Senate and Chris Null for SLCo Council District 5. I have known Doug for years and am confident Riverton would be well served by his voice in the Utah Senate. Chris Null is a Riverton resident, and a dear friend. He’s a hard worker and will make a positive difference in the county for our community.

Hey Riverton Council District 1 neighbors, I’m proud of the budget we approved this week (linked below). It delivers essential services while keeping costs as low as possible for our hardworking families during these challenging times.

Key Highlights:

• No property tax increase for the Riverton Law Enforcement Service Area or Fire Service Area.

• Strong support for public safety, with over $1 million in General Fund support for our Police Department and continued partnership with Unified Fire.

• Major investments in infrastructure you rely on every day: ~$1.8 million for critical water line replacements (including aging cast iron pipes), pump house repairs, etc.

• Securing our city’s water future through necessary rate adjustments and improvements.

• Continued maintenance of our beautiful parks and recreation programs that bring our community together.

• Smart efficiencies like LED streetlights saving us money and new technology to prevent leaks and theft.

This budget keeps our AAA bond rating strong, maintains one of the lowest per-person debts in the valley, and focuses on fiscal responsibility so we can provide reliable water, police/fire protection, roads, sanitation, and parks without unnecessary tax or fee hikes where we can avoid them.

Riverton families deserve a city government that stretches every dollar, plans for the future, and delivers high-quality services. That’s exactly what this budget does.

Thank you for trusting us with your hard-earned tax dollars. Let’s keep building a safe, connected, and thriving Riverton together!

At our council meeting tonight, we approved the 2026/2027 budget. Cost of living has gone up and families are feeling the pressure. That’s why our budget keeps the cost of city services as low as possible; so you can keep more of your hard-earned money in your pocket. I’m proud to note that total citywide expenditures in the budget are almost $1M less than the previous year’s budget, and there will be no new tax increases!

The budget does include a rate increase on culinary and secondary water. We are also adding a rate for businesses & HOA’s. Up until this year, all water users have been charged under the same rate structure.

The cost of delivering water continues to go up. We have kept taxes and fees low, and historically haven’t passed on those increased costs of water delivery to residents through rate increases. Without an increase, the culinary water fund will be in a serious deficit. The initial proposal was for a $15/household base rate. I pushed to have a lower base rate with more of the increase focused on usage. That way the people of Riverton can choose to conserve and have greater control over their water bill. We brought the new base rate down from $15/household to $8/household plus tiered pricing per 1,000 gallons used per month. This is an increase of $4.50/month.

The new rate structure will ultimately ensure that you pay for the water you use, and not for your neighbors water choices, or the water used by businesses and HOA’s in our city. It also enables us to make critical water infrastructure improvements across the city.

Overall, the budget reflects our commitment to providing high quality, essential city services to the people of Riverton. It is fiscally conservative and focused on the needs of our community.

Welcome to Riverton, Zev Technologies! ZEV Technologies is a maker of performance handguns, AR-style rifles, components, and the new Folding Defensive Platform. They recently announced the relocation of their headquarters and manufacturing operations to Riverton, Utah. The move from Washington state was driven by the brand’s desire to conduct its business in a state that respects Second Amendment rights and fosters a positive business environment for Second Amendment affiliated brands.

At our council meeting tonight, I was proud to make a motion to amend Riverton City code to allow for the discharge of fi****ms in city boundaries as part of the firearm manufacturing process. I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, Riverton is a business friendly community, and Utah is a Second Amendment friendly state.
