Very cool images of our firehouse throughout the years! 🚒

Our members have always taken great pride in maintaining our firehouse and treating it like a second home. That tradition continues today!

Even 130+ years later, you can still stop by and find our members working on the fire company-owned building, maintaining our department’s apparatus, or simply spending time at the firehouse.

Interested in getting involved, meeting our members, or just checking out what we’re all about?

Stop in any Monday or Thursday night — we’d love to show you around! 🔥🚒

Come see what the Riverton Fire Company is all about!

A little history

* Riverton Fire Company was organized in 1890, following a devastating January 1890 fire that destroyed businesses and residences in the area of Howard and Main Streets.

* The company purchased property on Howard Street in 1891 and eventually constructed the firehouse there.

* The present firehouse has been expanded and remodeled numerous times as the department’s apparatus and responsibilities grew. A significant addition was made in the mid-20th century. All funded through donations and maintained by the members.

* The building historically served more than just the fire company. The Borough used portions of it for government meetings and even a jail, with Borough meetings held there until 1990. However till this day our Police Department resides within our building.

Delayed Post: On Sunday, August 2nd, at approximately 10:15 AM, Riverton Fire Department was dispatched to the 300 block of Penn Street for a report of wires down and a possible utility pole on fire.

While investigating, Engine 2412 was redirected to Fourth Street in the area of the church. Upon arrival, crews located a utility pole that had caught fire, along with smoldering debris that had apparently fallen into the church’s basement window wells, igniting additional materials at the base of the pole.

Additional manpower was requested from the Palmyra Fire Department, and the Burlington County Fire Marshal’s Office was requested to assist.

After a thorough investigation, crews confirmed there was no fire extension into the church and no damage to the structure. Once power was secured by the utility company, firefighters conducted extensive overhaul operations to ensure all remaining hot spots were extinguished.

We would like to remind everyone that if you encounter downed wires or a smoking utility pole, stay away from the area and immediately call 9-1-1. Never assume a wire is de-energized, as it should always be treated as if it is live.

Members of the Riverton Fire Department responded to two mutual aid calls in Cinnaminson today. The first was a reported residential structure fire on Berwick Drive and second for an alarm system on Union Landing Rd.

Engine 2412 responded as the second-due engine company. Upon arrival, the first-due engine, Engine 2011 from Cinnaminson, had already stretched and placed an attack line into service. Members from Engine 2412 assisted crews by checking for fire extension to help ensure the fire had not spread beyond the area of origin.

We appreciate the teamwork and professionalism of all members operating on the scene displayed!
