This morning members of the Riverton Borough Police Department joined fellow law enforcement officers to pay their final respects to fallen Philadelphia Police Officer Shane Seiber.

Behind every badge is a person, a family and a life that extends far beyond the uniform. Officer Seiber was a perfect example of that being a husband, a father of two, a US Air Force Veteran and a community caretaker.

While no words can ease the loss felt by those who knew and loved him, the outpouring of support from law enforcement agencies around the country serve as a reminder that we gather together in his remembrance.

Our condolences are with Officer Seiber’s loved ones and with the entire Philadelphia Police Department.

**Police Activity on Broad Street**
This afternoon Riverton Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on a black motorcycle that did not have a properly displayed registration. Upon making contact with the operator it was determined that the operator did not have any documents for the vehicle nor could he provide identification.

A check of the subject determined that he did not have a license. Furthermore, an inquiry into the ownership status of the motorcycle he was in possession of and operating determined it was stolen out of the City of Philadelphia two weeks ago. The motorcycle was impounded and the driver was taken into custody. The male, a resident of Collingswood, was issued several traffic summonses and charged with 3rd degree receiving stolen property.

This was an excellent example of proactive policing removing a unlicensed driver from the roadway and returning stolen property back to a victim.

The Riverton Police Department recently conducted a motor vehicle inspection checkpoint as part of our ongoing efforts to promote roadway safety and address violations occurring within our community.

During the checkpoint, officers initiated a motor vehicle stop that resulted in further investigation. One of the three occupants was arrested at the time of the initial stop after fleeing on foot. The investigation continued after the vehicle subsequently fled from Riverton Police.

Through continued investigative efforts, the other two occupants were identified and subsequently charged with offenses related to obstruction, drug possession and eluding.

A search warrant was also obtained and executed on the vehicle as part of the investigation.

This incident is a good example of the importance of proactive police work. A routine motor vehicle enforcement operation can develop into a more significant investigation, and our officers remained committed to protecting us community.

We appreciate the professionalism and persistence demonstrated by the officers involved and the continued support of our community.
