Rives Volunteer Fire Department

Yesterday afternoon Rives Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call for assistance to the Union City Fire Department for a corn field on fire.
Assistance was also requested from Troy Fire Dept Obion County Rescue Squad and Samburg- Reelfoot Volunteer Fire Department.
Unfortunately Samburg was involved in a roll over accident while in route.
Thankfully both driver and passenger do not have life threatening injuries.
They were responding to a call in the county area to assist other fire departments and now the people who live in the Samburg fire district will be the ones who will be the most impacted by the loss of this vehicle.
Please pray with us for a quick healing of the members and their families.

This evening the Rives Fire Department responded to a lost boater in the Crockett bottoms
We responded and found the boater and returned them to the ramp. Everyone is safe.

Today is kids day at the Obion County Fair and some members of the Rives Fire Department were on hand to show the kids the fire equipment and talk about fire safety.

We had a great bunch of children who asked a lot of great questions.

Some much needed rain is about to fall on us shortly. Slowdown and be sure those headlights are on. Roads will be slick with the oils mixing with the rain.

Extreme Heat Warning until Sunday at 8pm. Please stay hydrated and drink plenty of water. Limit outdoor activities times.

A HEAT ADVISORY goes in effect for Obion County beginning at 11 today until 8pm tonight. Heat index values could reach UP TO 110 degrees or higher.

There will likely be more advisories issued over the next few days.

Make sure you stay hydrated, take breaks if you are outside. Limit time outside if possible.
