Councilperson Shirley D. Lanier would like to make residents and community members aware that the City of Riviera Beach website is currently experiencing technical issues.

It is with a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Ms. Doloris P. Dawson.

Ms. Doloris was a true matriarch of our Southwest community and historic Riviera Beach Heights community. As one of the founders of the South Side Coalition, she dedicated herself to strengthening our neighborhoods, uplifting residents, and bringing people together. Her service, wisdom, strength, and love for Riviera Beach touched generations and will not be forgotten.

On behalf of the District 3 community, Mayor and City Council, and the entire City of Riviera Beach, I join our community in honoring a life well lived and a legacy that will continue for generations.

My prayers are with the Dawson family during this difficult time. May the many memories you shared with Ms. Doloris bring you peace, strength, and comfort. 🕊️💙

I remain committed to expanding affordable and workforce housing, increasing pathways to homeownership, and strengthening the partnership between the City, CRA, and CDC to address the housing needs of our residents.

With approximately 70% of Riviera Beach residents not owning their homes, we must be intentional about helping families move from renting to owning, building equity, and creating generational wealth.

Housing and homeownership are citywide issues that require a citywide approach. We must also ensure that we properly support and fund our CDC and CRA housing programs so they have the resources necessary to create meaningful homeownership opportunities for our residents.

More housing. More homeownership. Stronger neighborhoods. One Riviera Beach.

The Office of Councilperson Shirley D. Lanier is pleased to provide an important infrastructure update for our residents.

Street paving for 1st Street through 6th Street has been completed! 🛣️✅

The completion of this paving work represents continued progress toward improving the quality, safety, and appearance of our neighborhood streets. Investments in our infrastructure are investments in our residents, our neighborhoods, and the long-term future of Riviera Beach.

We appreciate the patience of residents throughout the paving process and thank everyone who helped make this project possible.

Today, I had the honor of celebrating my mother’s 80th birthday.

She came to Riviera Beach at just 17 years old, where she and my father built their first home and raised our family. Today, my father is 85, and they have been happily married for 62 years—a true example of love, faith, and commitment.

Happy 80th Birthday, Mom! Thank you for everything you’ve done for our family. We love you and wish you many more years of good health, joy, and blessings. ❤️🎉

It has been an incredible honor to once again serve as the Chairperson of the Riviera Beach City Council serving alongside Chairperson Pro-Tempore KaShamba Miller-Anderson, District 2 during the 2025–2026 year, while serving my third term in office.

During this term, I was humbled to become a part of Riviera Beach history. Due to a vacancy that existed in the Office of the Mayor, I had the distinct privilege of formally serving as Mayor of the City of Riviera Beach, as provided by our City Charter in an acting capacity. It was a responsibility I accepted with great pride and a moment I will always cherish. 💙

Although my term as Chairperson has now come to an end, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve our residents in this historic capacity and I’m thankful for the chance to help lead our great city during such an important time in our history. ✨

As I continue serving on the Riviera Beach City Council, my commitment remains the same: creating opportunities, closing gaps, strengthening our community, and providing transparent, accountable, and effective governance for every resident. Together, we will continue moving Riviera Beach forward.

🚔🏗️ Through a unanimous vote of the Riviera Beach City Council, we are officially moving forward with a new Riviera Beach Police Department Headquarters!

After more than 30 years of aging infrastructure, mold concerns, and facility challenges, this project is not a want—it is a necessity. Our police officers, staff, and residents deserve safe, modern, and professional facilities that support the important work of serving our community.

Special thanks to the leaders who had the vision and courage to address these long-standing infrastructure needs under the leadership of former City Manager Jonathan Evans, former and current elected officials Dr. Julie Botel, KaShamba Miller-Anderson, Douglas Alexander Lawson championed critical investments in our Police Department 🚔, Fire Rescue facilities 🚒, Water Treatment Plant 💧, and other essential public infrastructure projects that continue to move Riviera Beach forward.

🗳️ Despite misinformation, several years ago Riviera Beach voters overwhelmingly approved the bonding authority needed to make this project a reality because they understood the importance of investing in public safety and our future.

🌴 Today marks another major step forward for Riviera Beach as we continue building a stronger, safer, and more resilient community for generations to come.
