EMERGENCY!!! Attend April 1 City Council Meeting or Lose City Manager Jonathan Evans!
Councilperson Bruce Guyton is attempting to fire the best City Manager Riviera Beach has ever had. Riviera Beach citizens strongly opposed the last effort to do this and we need to do so again. Residents were an important part of bringing Jonathan Evans back after he was unfairly fired in 2017. Since then the city has made incredible progress under his leadership: the new water treatment plant, three new fire stations, a new city hall, new library, a new police station, many new housing projects, etc.
Before Evans, the city stagnated for 30 years. Residents must speak up at a critical City Council meeting on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Marina Event Center on 13th Street. Let’s all show up and tell our council people we want to keep Jonathan.
Also, please sign the electronic petition. We need to show our City Council that we want Jonathan. You can sign this petition by clicking this link and circulating it to your neighbors:

Another impactful day at the Palm Beach County Leadership Housing Academy 🏡

Spent the day alongside leaders from across the county working on real, collaborative solutions to tackle housing affordability.

We also had the opportunity to hear from Congresswoman Lois Frankel on affordability and the current state of housing at the federal level, and locally from Riviera Beach’s own Annette Jenkins, Executive Director of the Riviera Beach CDC and CRA Neighborhood Services Director, who shared insight on affordable housing projects in Riviera Beach and the vital role CRA’s play in driving housing development and community reinvestment.

When we lead together, we build stronger communities.

NATIONAL POETRY MONTH YOUTH SUMMIT

Today I stopped by the Poetry Jam at the Riviera Beach Marina Village. This community event aims to make art more accessible for middle and high school students, and features educational workshops and performances as part of an effort to promote literacy and mental health.

The Cultural Council announcement said, “The City of Riviera Beach Parks and Recreation is partnering with The Desired Group the creators of the National Poetry Festival with the purpose of empowering and motivating the youth to find their talent through spoken word and creative writing.”
It was a great day to celebrate creativity!

The Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer program (Summer EBT) would provide over 2 million hungry children in Florida with roughly $259 million in federal food assistance next summer. Although Florida chose not to participate in Summer EBT for 2024, it is not too late for the state to administer Summer EBT next year. But time is running out. The deadline for Florida to tell USDA that it plans to administer 2025 Summer EBT is August 15, 2024.

Bread for the World (https://www.bread.org/?mc_cid=e70b31afca&mc_eid=946faef8f2) and Florida Impact (https://floridaimpact.org/?mc_cid=e70b31afca&mc_eid=946faef8f2) are leading a request that state leaders meet the federal deadline and ensure Florida participates in 2025 Summer EBT. I was pleased to represent Friends of the Riviera Beach Schools (FORBS) at today’s groundbreaking ceremony for West Riviera elementary school on West 6th Street.
FORBS, a 501(c)(3)charity I co-founded, has provided field trips, holiday essay contests, social enrichment activities, and school supplies to Riviera Beach students for the past 6 1/2 years.
I had the pleasure of meeting Doris Denard who taught in the Palm Beach County school District for 43 years, 30 of those at West Riviera elementary school. Many dignitaries were present.
This new facility will be a wonderful addition to our city’s schools
