What a great day of celebrations! RRGSD is proud to announce that each of its schools increased student proficiency and school achievement measures in the 2025-2026 school year! Four of the five schools met or exceeded expected growth and for the first time in several years, all of the districts' schools have earned a letter grade of A, B, or C meaning that the district does not have a school on the state low-performing list. This is a testament to the great work done by our teachers, support staff, and school leaders each day in RRGSD. Thank you to all of our employees, our community supporters, and most especially, to our students and families! Let's continue to raise the bar and let the progress power us to even greater success this year! We are off to a great start today in RRGSD and part of that is thanks to the collaboration with the Halifax County NC Sheriff's Office and the Roanoke Rapids Police Department to ensure we have officers at each of our school sites each day. Thank you to Sheriff Davis and Chief Wiggins and their deputies and officers, along with our RRGSD safety team, for all you do to help keep our students and staff safe each day!

Great news for Belmont Elementary School and Manning Elementary School parents requesting bus transportation! We had 107 requests for bus transportation for students living within the 1.5 mile radius of the schools and thanks to the hard-working RRGSD transportation department, these students have been assigned to bus routes for the upcoming year! Bus passes should have been distributed, but if you have questions, please contact your school or the transportation office. Please know that we cannot add any additional stops for current students, but we will work to accommodate requests for students to join at existing stops when possible. Again, a big thank you to Robin Pearson and Shelia Turner for their work in making this happen for our students!
