🌋🥤📚 Reading, science, and self-control all came together in our 1st grade today!
After reading My Mouth Is a Volcano!, we made connections between the story and our Soda + Mentos experiment. Just like the soda, sometimes our words can feel ready to erupt! 💥🌋
We learned strategies to help us keep from interrupting others, practice self-control, and make sure everyone has a chance to share their thoughts. Then, we put our predictions to the test with a fizzy science experiment! 🧪✨
What a fun way to connect reading, science, and important classroom skills! ❤️

🐝✨ Still buzzing about Open House! ✨🐝

We’re reminiscing on all the fun we had—including our Build-A-Mascot activity! It was so much fun watching our Bees and their families get creative and bring their very own mascots to life!

If your family didn’t get a chance to build one that night, don’t worry! 🐝 There will be more opportunities and future after-school events where you can join in on the fun.

Students in Mrs. Ott’s fourth grade class, learned about rounding multi digit whole numbers to any specified place value (NC.4.NBT.3) using balloons today. If the digit was five or greater, the balloon would release, meaning students would round up. If the number or digit was less than five students were able to hold onto the balloon and visually see that the number would stay the same.

MEET THE TEACHER… ER, CAFETERIA CREW!

Our cafeteria staff are some of the hardest-working Bees in the building! From early mornings to busy lunch periods, they work hard to keep our students well-fed, happy, and ready to learn.

Today, we’re excited to introduce you to one of the amazing people who helps make Belmont BEE-lieve-able!

Mrs. Powellś 5th graders learned about the steps to the scientific method. They applied their knowledge of the scientific method with the toothpick experiment. Students worked together to follow the scientific method and concluded that when you add water to toothpicks in a certain shape, you will make a star. They learned that this happens due to cohesion of the water molecules being attracted to the wood molecules. They will continue to learn more about matter and molecules in the coming days!

Our students got to watch a special video introducing our brand-new Belmont Bee mascot! Now, we need their help with one very important job… giving him a name!

After watching the video, each class will work together to choose one fun and creative name to submit.

We can’t wait to see what our Belmont Bees come up with!
