We are proud to participate in this year's summer internship program!

The City of Roanoke welcomes a new class of summer interns. Their first day began with words of wisdom from Mayor Joe Cobb and City Manager Valmarie Turner.

Consistently recognized as a Virginia Top Employer for Interns - with two 2025 interns honored among the top 50 interns in Virginia - the City of Roanoke places college students, new graduates, and postgraduate students with City departments for several weeks during the summer.

This year, 11 interns will learn from the City Attorney, Department of Technology, Berglund Center, City Manager’s Office and more. Their time with City departments helps interns apply academic concepts in the real world, build valuable skillsets and develop professional relationships. They, in turn, contribute new perspectives, creativity and curiosity to the daily workings of our local government.

Welcome, Intern Class of 2026!
