Today, the U.S. Forest Service consolidated national fire and aviation authorities under its Deputy Chief for Fire and Aviation Management – a key step in strengthening coordination, speed and clarity across our wildfire response system.

Road Closure on Twin Ridge Road, just beyond the turn off for the beach facility at Bolar Mountain Recreation Area (Bath County, VA) will be temporarily closed to motor vehicles until approximately 9/21/2026. The closure affects the last mile of Twin Ridge Rd. Future closures of this road are expected due to construction activities. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

Hi everyone, head's up for everyone who might be driving near the Clinch Ranger District. We have some temporary road closures due to hazards or repairs.

Geological Hazard Closures:
1) FSR 700 (Little Stoney): State Route 822 to FSR 701.
2) FSR 641 (Wallen Ridge): Baxley Lane to State Route 611.
3) FSR 805 (Hanging Rock): Off State Route 72 @ Hanging Rock Entrance.
4) FSR 239 (Maple Gap / Stock Creek): State Route 725 to FS gate.

General Road Repair Closures:
1) FSR 239 (Maple Gap / Stock Creek): South of FSR 239-D to FS Gate.
2) FSR 294 (Jasper Cliff Rd): From FSR 239 intersection to State Route 655.
3) FSR 2140 (Cutter Creek): From State Route 622 intersection to terminus.

Head's up, everyone! Glade Mountain Road (FSR 86) and Overbay Road (FSR 644) will be closed for road work through the month of August.

Happy Monday and we’re starting the week off with fantastic news: the Taylor Hollow Fire is 100% contained. We got it to 99% last week and waited the 72 hours to make sure.

A huge thank you to all the firefighters and crews who came to help us with this fire.

All closures related to the fire are lifted and we’ll continue with rehab work until things are good to go.

Yesterday's rain helped immensely to reduce temperatures across the entire affected area.

The Taylor Hollow Fire remains approximately 108 acres and is now 85% contained.

The fire is looking a lot better after the rain, and in some of the contained areas, restoration work is beginning on some of the trails.
