RAM House - Roanoke Area Ministries

RAM House - Roanoke Area Ministries RAM House's vision is to provide hope by preventing and alleviating homelessness and hunger in the Blue Ridge Region.

Roanoke Area Ministries doors are open 365 days a year from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Visit our website at http://www.raminc.org. For FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE call (540) 981-1732. Our Mission:
Roanoke Area Ministries (RAM) is an interfaith non-profit that advocates for those facing or are threatened by homelessness and hunger. Founded in 1971, our doors are open for those needing care coordination, day shelte

r services, meals, and emergency financial assistance. Our programs:

Emergency Financial Assistance: Unexpected things happen. A hospital visit, a leaky roof, sudden job loss, death of breadwinner. These are just some of the emergencies that can push a person teetering on the edge of homeless completely over the edge. RAM provides one time emergency financial assistance to help with utility bills, rent, deposits and life saving medications. RAM House Day Shelter: Since 1987, the RAM House Day Shelter has provided refuge from the elements and a place of comfort, acceptance and support for those most in need. We recognize the need for support during some of life's most trying times. Hot Noontime Meal: One in five children go hungry part of every month. Hunger can affect health, quality of life, and leave a person unable to face daily challenges. We serve a nutritious lunch, every day, to anyone who has need. RAM House has a clothes closet that is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays for our homeless guests to "shop" for their clothing needs. Homeless guests also have access to laundry facilities to help them maintain cleanliness. RAM networks with other agencies to help obtain state ID's for our homeless guests and to refer them for the services and other help they need to enable them to get off the streets and into a permanent home.

The State of the City Address was given by Mayor Joe Cobb who recognized the new Jain Care Center as a hub for recovery and other services which is a victory for our region. The Board of Directors and staff of Roanoke area Ministries are thankful for the investment of $650,000 through the American Recovery Act to build not just a building but a pilot program to better address issues associated with homelessness.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

While our kitchen is being renovated and temporarily out of service, RAM House is looking for churches and organizations that would be willing to provide sandwiches for our clients 2 to 3 times a week until our kitchen is up and running again.

If your church, group, or organization would like to help serve our neighbors in need, we would love to hear from you.

Kisha Hunter joins RAM House as our new Director of Employment Programming, bringing a passion for helping people discover purpose, dignity, and hope through meaningful employment.

RAM House's Employment Services are designed to meet people where they are and help them move toward long-term stability. Kisha will work one-on-one with individuals to identify employment opportunities, develop practical life skills, and build confidence for the future.

Our Employment Program will focus on serving:
Individuals in recovery who are rebuilding their lives
Men and women participating in second-chance and reentry programs
Senior citizens seeking flexible or part-time employment
Individuals receiving Social Security or disability benefits who are able to work within program guidelines
Clients who need budgeting, financial coaching, and money-management skills to achieve greater independence

Employment is about more than earning a paycheck. It restores confidence, creates purpose, strengthens families, and opens doors to a brighter future.

With your support, this program can continue transforming lives—one person, one opportunity, and one success story at a time.

Compassion. Community. Change.

Stay tuned for Danny!
