Roanoke, this is our moment. 🔥🗳️

Trump and his MAGA MINIONS are counting on communities like ours to stay uninformed, stay home, and stay quiet so they can stack Congress and chip away at our democracy.

We cannot allow that. The stakes for our community and our country are too high.

That means we have to show up. We have to vote YES. We have to bring others with us. 💪🏾

This redistricting matters because we need a member of Congress who fights for Roanoke, fights for our democracy, refuses to let Donald Trump erode it away, and who fights for people, for peace, and for our future.

It is time to fight fire with fire. 🔥

This morning I stopped by to visit and support two businesses in Northwest Roanoke, Small Batch Liquidations and Los Tres Hermanos Panaderia Bakery and Deli located on Melrose!!!

And I am warning you!!! if you walk into Los Tres Hermanos “just to look,” there is a very good chance you’re walking out with a bag full of pastries.

I love seeing business development happening in this part of the city. Northwest Roanoke has so much history and there is so much untapped potential.

Go visit and support both of these if you have not been yet.

Los Tres Hermanos:
4029 Melrose Ave NW, Roanoke, VA 24017.

The lines on a map might seem small, but their impact is huge. Redistricting shapes power, representation, and the future of our communities for years to come. If you believe in fairness, equal representation, and a democracy that works for everyone, then make your voice heard.

Early voting starts TOMORROW! March 6 and runs through Saturday, April 18. Election Day is April 21.

The future of our country depends on it.

There’s been a lot of conversation about the proposed Ferris wheel in downtown Roanoke, so I want to make something very clear.

This project is not being led or funded by the City of Roanoke.

The idea is being explored by Center in the Square, which is a nonprofit organization. They are a separate entity from the City. They are the ones looking into this proposal as part of what they are calling the Sky Garden Project.

The City of Roanoke has not voted on funding it. The City has not approved any money for it. The City has not set aside any local tax dollars for construction.

Right now, Center in the Square is seeking state funding for a feasibility study through the Virginia General Assembly to determine whether the project makes structural and financial sense. They have also indicated they would likely pursue corporate sponsorships.

Again, this is being explored by a nonprofit organization, not the City of Roanoke.

Bad Bunny stepped onto the halftime stage at a time filled with hate and division, and he rose to the occasion. He met the moment with culture, confidence, and pride, offering a living reminder that America’s strength has always come from its diversity and always will.

In moments when some try to shrink who belongs, we are called to widen the circle. We are at our best when every community, every story, and every voice has room to shine.

Even with weather like this, many of our restaurants downtown are open and ready for business.

I encourage you, if you can, to head downtown, stop by a local spot, grab a bite, and support our small businesses. These restaurants play a big role in keeping our downtown vibrant, and showing up for them on days like today really matters.

If you’re out and about, consider making downtown your next stop and supporting local.

My prayers are with the Roanoke City firefighters who were injured today while doing what they have committed their lives to doing which is protecting our community.

Please keep them their families and all of our first responders in your thoughts and prayers.

Every single day they put their lives and livelihoods on the line to keep Roanoke safe and we are so grateful for their courage, service, and sacrifice.
