πŸš’πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’ Firefighter in Training! πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’πŸš’

Today, we had some extra help with our monthly fire hydrant inspections! While our newest recruit may be a few years away from the academy, they were already hard at work helping make sure our hydrants are ready when the community needs them.

From checking hydrants to learning the ropes, this future firefighter showed us that big hearts come in small packages. ❀️

The good news? Performance reviews were outstanding. The bad news? We may have to renegotiate the snack budget. πŸͺπŸ˜„

And most importantly, this firefighter-in-training is Mom Approvedβ„’ β€” which, as everyone knows, is much harder to earn than any certification we offer.

Who knows? Maybe one day we'll be issuing an official Roanoke Fire Department badge instead of a junior helper title. Until then, we'll keep them on probation and let them stick to the fun jobs.

Thanks for lending a hand and bringing some extra smiles to our day!

β€οΈπŸš‘ National CPR & AED Awareness Week πŸš‘β€οΈ

Would you know what to do if someone suddenly collapsed from cardiac arrest?

Immediate CPR and the use of an AED can double or even triple a person's chance of survival. The actions taken in the first few minutes can make all the difference. ❀️

This week, we encourage everyone to take a few moments to learn these lifesaving skillsβ€”or refresh the training you already have. You never know when a family member, friend, coworker, or neighbor may need your help.

Want to get certified? CPR, First Aid, and AED classes are offered through the Roanoke Recreation Center. Visit the registration page to view upcoming classes and sign up today:

A huge thank you to our Public Works team for organizing such a fun event and to everyone who participated and cheered each other on. Events like this are a great reminder that behind every service we provide to the community is a team that works hard together and occasionally competes for trophies and belt buckles too.

The weekend is not the time for rest; our firefighters were out conducting ventilation training, sharpening critical skills that help improve fireground operations, increase visibility, reduce heat and smoke conditions, and support safer interior operations.

Training like this allows crews to build muscle memory, work as a team, and perfect the techniques needed to perform under pressure when seconds matter most.

At the Roanoke Fire Department, we train continuously so we are ready when our community needs us most. πŸš’πŸ’¨

Members of the Roanoke Fire Department were honored by Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, Grapevine, for their response to a traumatic motor vehicle accident, where they provided lifesaving patient care.

Their quick actions, clinical skill, and teamwork made a critical difference when seconds mattered most. We are incredibly proud of their dedication to serving our community with excellence, compassion, and professionalism.

Please join us in congratulating Engineer/P Cross and FF/P De La Garza on this well-deserved recognition!

This Memorial Day morning, members of the Roanoke Fire Department took on the Murph workout to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

The Murph is more than just a workout β€” it’s a tribute to courage, service, and sacrifice. Watching our firefighters push through every mile, pull-up, push-up, and squat this morning was a reminder of the dedication and grit they bring to serving others every single day.

Today, we remember those who gave everything in service to our nation. We are grateful for their sacrifice and proud to honor their legacy. β€οΈπŸ€πŸ’™

This Memorial Day, the Roanoke Fire Department honors the heroes who never made it home.

Behind every flag is a story of sacrifice, courage, and service to something greater than self. Today, we remember those who gave their lives defending our nation and recognize the families who continue to carry that sacrifice every day.

While many gather with loved ones this holiday, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and honor the legacy of our fallen service members.

Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
