The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a Fire Weather Watch... which is in effect from Wednesday morning through Wednesday afternoon. A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.

Fire Chief Posey Dillon’s Funeral Arrangements......Visitation: Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m at the Rocky Mount Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral: Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Franklin Heights Baptist Church(Hilltop Road in Rocky Mount). Donations can be made to the Posey W. OK - After a little snooping around the firehouse Sunday, the rumor about the brownies is indeed a fact. They are fantastic!!! Wait a minute - on second thought, they're awful. Don't buy one. (Can I have the leftovers???)

Two reminders..... First - Roanoke County has issued a complete burn ban due to extremely dry conditions. Second - Don't forget Sunday Sundaes will be happening again this year every sunday in July from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Just a dollar a scoop, banana splits 3.50, and there's a rumor that there will brownies available for an extra dollar for a brownie sundae.

It has been brought to my attention that everyone being fitted for a mask should be clean shaven - they won't test you without it. Honestly, I don't see what difference it makes whether or not you have smooth legs, but who am I to question..............

Just a reminder - Mask fittings will be 22 June from 1800hrs to 2200hrs. Attendance is mandatory for all fire certified personnel. If for any reason you can't make it then, we are working to schedule an alternate time during the day. As soon as we get that work out, you'll be the second to know.....
