Huntington County is under a Travel Advisory. Roads are very slick, please drive carefully.

By the authority of the Huntington County Commissioner's, Huntington County will be under a Travel "advisory". This is the lowest level of a local travel advisory means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation, and individuals should use caution or avoid those areas. This is due to ice, snow and multiple side offs on the roadways.

A map of all of the counties under a travel advisory or watch can be found here: https://www.in.gov/dhs/traveladvisory/?fbclid=IwAR0dr-0Xokvs_wbaBSOZTco8K_eai154VqfbEna6c93xBeiZyS1UOLCzhj8

- 2025 Year End Review -

2025 saw a 10% increase in calls for service compared to 2024. Roanoke Fire responded to a total of 447 runs this past year.

293 Medical Calls
103 Fire Service Calls
51 Motor Vehicle Accident Calls

Over half of those calls for service occurred during the hours of 7AM & 5PM.

Of those 447 runs, nearly 50 were RVFD personnel providing assistance to our neighboring mutual aid departments. These runs ranged from structure/vegetation fires, motor vehicle accidents, as well as infill/standby coverage.

Did you know that the Roanoke Volunteer Fire Department isn’t actually a town department, but rather an entity that the Town of Roanoke, Jackson Twp., and portions of Union Twp., contract with yearly to provide fire protection? Up until 4 years ago, we were the Town’s department for over 100 years. Similar to many fire departments throughout the State of Indiana who have had to switch to contracted fire protection, we have to submit reports of all different types in order to justify the funding that we request every year to provide the services that we do. Some of those reports include: Calls for Service, Department Personnel and Certifications, Financial Reports, as well as Equipment Inventory, among others. Take a look at some examples of those reports on this post.

Please look out for our “State of the Department” meetings coming up in the first quarter of 2026 where all from the community are welcome to learn more about our staffing, operations, and how we are funded. We will also give opportunities for constituents to ask questions and become informed on the different things we face as a publicly funded and fundraiser supported department.

Roanoke Fire is proud to serve the citizens in the Town of Roanoke, Jackson Twp., Union Twp., and neighboring counties. We wish everyone a happy, healthy, and safe 2026.

We want to thank everyone that supported us this weekend. Whether it was stopping by the concession stand to buy a coney dog or attending the rodeo that we hosted. We do apologize that we sold out of coney dogs Saturday night. Hopefully nobody missed out on getting one of our famous coney dogs due to this.
The rodeo was a huge success this year with a record attendance. We love that we are able to bring in an event that so many people enjoy.
We could not put on this amazing rodeo without the support of our sponsors! Please support our sponsors by shopping at their businesses. They make all of this possible.
We want to give a huge shoutout to ABP Rodeo Company for putting together a great rodeo. With great contestants, a funny and entertaining rodeo clown, a very talented rodeo performer, and live music. It all came together to produce a great rodeo.
