🚨🚨 Scam Warning 🚨🚨

The Roanoke County Sheriff's Office has received NUMEROUS reports of scam calls once again claiming "They will send someone to your home for not showing up” and using names like Deputy Brian Richardson or Capt. Mason Smarthill. They are names not associated with Roanoke County Sheriff's Office. The scammer(s) are also using numbers that are associated with our Office, making it seem like a trusted source. They are also using threatening language which should be a clue that it’s a scam.

Let’s be clear:

📞 Threats + urgency = SCAM

If someone calls saying, you’ll be arrested unless you pay right now… hang up!!

đźš« Do not call the number back.

Scammers are reportedly making multiple calls to the same number to pressure victims.

Real court issues are handled by the courts—not surprise phone calls.

📌 When in doubt:
✔️ Don’t give out any personal information
✔️ Don’t send money
✔️ Call your local law enforcement agency
