Want to learn more about the Water Authority and the Valley's water supply💧? Join us on Tuesday, August 25 from 4 to 7pm for an open house at our Field Operations division at 3322 Hollins Rd NE.

Representatives will be onsite to share information about water supply planning and studies, water treatment, and distribution. No formal presentation will be given. Please stop by at any time.

Meet Brinna Seidel, a Patrick Henry High School graduate, who just earned her gold award as a member of the Virginia Skyline Girl Scout Troop 170. She designed and produced educational signs for one of the hiking trails along Carvins Cove Reservoir. The signs were designed for the many school groups that visit the Cove each year. Citizens Academy is a free, 5-week program that invites Authority customers and community leaders behind the scenes of the utility that delivers drinking water, treats wastewater, and protects public health and local waterways for approximately 70,000 accounts across Roanoke City, Roanoke County, Franklin County, Botetourt County, the Town of Vinton, and the Town of Boones Mill. This program is for adults 18 and older.

Sessions are held on Tuesday evening from 5:30-8:00 PM (dinner provided) beginning Sept 22.

Before you dig, call 8-1-1 to have underground utility lines marked. A simple call can help prevent damage, protect our water and sewer infrastructure, and keep our community safe. 💧

Today, we’re also celebrating our incredible line locators! 👏 Last month, our team located 5,736 utility lines, setting a new record! 🎉

The Western Virginia Water Authority has a strong commitment to supporting our community and the United Way of Roanoke Valley. We held our 23rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament this past weekend at Blue Hills Golf Club in Roanoke.

Twenty teams from around the area competed and all proceeds from tournament sales will be donated to the Roanoke Valley United Way. 💙

The 4th Annual Water Tower Showdown was a success! Thank you to our partners for coordinating another great competition. Middle School students put their creativity and engineering skills to the test to build a model water tower that could successfully hold one gallon of water.

Students and their families also got to take a tour of the Smith Mountain Lake Water Treatment Facility to learn about how drinking water is treated. We look forward to this event next year!
