Vehicle Break-Ins Under Investigation, Roanoke Area

The Huntington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating reports of vehicle break-ins in the Cardinal Creek Addition in Roanoke.

A deputy responded to the area at approximately 3:00 a.m. If you live in the Cardinal Creek Addition or surrounding Roanoke area and:

• Have discovered items missing from your vehicle
• Have home security or doorbell camera footage from overnight hours
• Observed any suspicious activity

Please contact Huntington County Dispatch at (260) 356-8316 as soon as possible.

Any information provided may assist deputies in this ongoing investigation. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping keep our community safe.

Last night at approximately 12:30 A.M. Deputy Marshal Baumgartner attempted to stop a vehicle for disregarding a stop sign at Main and Vine. The vehicle failed to stop resulting in a short vehicle pursuit and then a foot pursuit where the suspect, Aaron Flores, ran into the house in which he was residing and then out the back door. With the help of Huntington County Sheriff’s Deputies, Huntington City Police officers, Markle police officer, Warren police officer, Indiana State Troopers, two drones and the Indiana State Police helicopter unit, the suspect was taken into custody without incident approximately 7 hours after the incident began. Aaron was a wanted fugitive out of the state of Texas on two level 2 felony warrants:

Smuggling persons with the likelihood of serious bodily injury or death

Smuggling persons fleeing

Local Charges:

Felony Resisting Law Enforcement motorvehicle

Resisting Law Enforcement

All subjects are innocent until proven guilty.

As many of you know the eastbound lane on US 24 at 900 N is closed until further notice. There is an official detour that does not go through the town of Roanoke but with that being said you please be aware that there may be an increase in traffic downtown due to the road closure.
