🎉🏆 ATTENDANCE CHAMPIONS! 🏆🎉

We are excited to recognize our attendance winners for the month of May and celebrate the classes with the BEST overall attendance for the entire school year!

📅 May Attendance: 96.49%
🎓 Yearly Attendance Average: 95.38%

🌟 Mr. Elmore’s 4th Grade Class
📅 May Attendance: 97.07%
🎓 Yearly Attendance Average: 96.72%

Not only did these classes lead the way in May, but they also earned the distinction of having the highest attendance averages for the entire school year! 👏👏

Excellent attendance helps students build strong habits, stay connected to learning, and make the most of every opportunity at school. Thank you to our students, families, and teachers for making attendance a priority all year long.

Let’s give a big Blue Jay shoutout to Mrs. Cheek’s class and Mr. Elmore’s class for this outstanding accomplishment! 💙🐦🖤

Our next Blue Jay of the Week was none other than Mrs. Megan Douglas. 💙

Mrs. Douglas is a wonderful addition to our teaching staff here at The River! Although we don't typically get to work directly together, we do work adjacently and I am a huge fan of all of the things that I see going on in her day to day. Her classroom consistently looks and sounds like there is learning happening at a high level. Mrs.
Douglas frequently conveys that she's making it through each day on top of the game (Which not all of us can say we do)! She is a great role model of work ethic and respect for not just her students, but her peer teachers as well. She demonstrates flexibility, poise, and intelligence in every interaction she has. And all while maintaining a smile on her face and a positive attitude! The River is definitely better with her around! Thank you for all that you do for the students and our school!

🏃‍♂️🏀💙 May is National Physical Fitness & Sports Month, and before May ends, we’re taking a moment to celebrate one of the people who helps keep our Blue Jays active, engaged, and having fun every day—Coach Pearson!

Whether he’s leading a game, teaching teamwork, or helping students build confidence through movement, Coach Pearson makes a lasting impact on our school community. His positive attitude and dedication help create an environment where students learn valuable lessons.

Thank you, Coach Pearson, for inspiring our students to work together and always give their best effort. We appreciate all you do for Roaring River Elementary!

Our next Blue Jay of the Week was Ms. Jackie, as nominated by Mr. Elmore. 💙

The Blue Jay Award this week goes to our Ms. Jackie! She has really helped us out so much this year with subbing. A lot of people think that substitutes just "fill in," but she does do much more than that. She has been so helpful all year long and we are really not sure what we would do without her. So here is to Ms. Jackie!!

✨Thank you for not sending the calls to voicemail.✨

Today, we say “see you later” to a very special member of the Roaring River Elementary family.

After 21 years of faithful service as both a custodian and bus driver, Ms. Carolyn Anthony is officially retiring. For more than two decades, she has helped keep our school safe, clean, welcoming, and running smoothly. Whether she was greeting students in the morning, making sure classrooms were ready for learning, or safely transporting children to and from school, Ms. Carolyn’s dedication never went unnoticed.

While it’s hard to imagine our school without her, we are so grateful for the countless ways she has impacted generations of Blue Jays and their families.

Ms. Carolyn, thank you for your hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment to our school community.

Please join us in congratulating Ms. Carolyn Anthony on her well-deserved retirement and wishing her many years of happiness, relaxation, and new adventures ahead!

💙 Congratulations, Ms. Carolyn!

💙🖤 Today was a special day at Roaring River Elementary as we unveiled our brand new Blue Jay wings mural! These wings were created to represent the pride, spirit, and heart of our school community — a place where past, present, and future Blue Jays can stop, snap a picture, and show off their Blue Jay pride! 📸🪽

This project would not have been possible without the incredible support of our families and community. Thank you to everyone who supported our snack cart sales and fundraising efforts throughout the year. Your support helped turn this vision into a reality! A huge thank you also goes to our amazing RRES PTO for generously covering HALF of the mural’s cost. Your continued love and investment in our students and school means more than you know!

We also want to give a very special shoutout to the incredibly talented Keyley Shae for sharing her artistic gifts with us. Not only did she create these beautiful Blue Jay wings, but she also surprised us by painting our spirit rock as an added bonus! 💙 Her creativity and talent have added something truly special to our campus.

Be sure to stop by the office area, check out the mural, and grab a picture with the wings! We can’t wait to see generations of Blue Jays making memories here for years to come. 🐦💙

📣 Oops… our “Blue Jay of the Week” posts may have fallen a little behind, but our appreciation for these incredible staff members certainly has not! 💙🐦

The end of the school year has kept us all flying in a hundred directions, but we never want to miss the opportunity to recognize the amazing people who make our school such a special place each and every day.

Over the next few days, we’ll be catching up on celebrating several very deserving staff members who have recently been named Blue Jay of the Week! These individuals go above and beyond for our students, families, and one another, and we are so thankful for the heart, dedication, and positivity they bring to our school community.

Stay tuned as we give these outstanding Blue Jays the recognition they deserve! 💙✨

First up: Mrs. Tharpe, who was recognized by Mr. Darren.

“I am giving the Blue Jay Award to Mrs. Taylor Tharpe. Mrs. Tharpe is very understanding, patient, kind and generous. Mrs. Tharpe treats all students with respect and care. She encourages students, and has created a friendly classroom environment where everyone feels welcome and important. Mrs. Tharpe always goes the extra mile to guide students and make sure everyone has the opportunity to learn. Mrs. Tharpe makes learning a positive and meaningful experience for all who enter her room.”
