Summary Showdown!
Students in Mrs. Ann Noce’s 6th-grade class are sharpening their nonfiction writing skills! Students are learning how to write strong summaries that include a clear main idea, relevant supporting details, and accurate information in their own words.
After reading a text with a partner, students put their learning into action with a fun fast-paced—moving around the room to analyze different summary examples and determine which ones best demonstrated the skills they had learned. What a fun way to get students moving, talking, and thinking critically about their writing!

Varsity Football - 10/16/26
Today's varsity football game is an LHAC cross section matchup between our Central Scarlet Dragons and the Central Cambria Red Devils.
This will be our Senior Night game and there will be a pregame ceremony recognizing Senior football players, marching band members, and members of the cheerleading squad. Our Senior ceremony is slated to begin around 6:30 PM. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM.
Gates open at 5:30 PM. All tickets at the gate are $5

🎶 A Musical Visit to MES! 🎺🥁
In September, Mrs. Swackhamer and members of the Central High School Band visited MES to perform for the 5th-grade students! 🎵
Students had the opportunity to hear our talented CHS musicians in action while learning more about the exciting opportunities available through the band program. We loved seeing former MES students sharing their talents and helping inspire the next generation of musicians! ❤️🖤
Interested 5th graders will have the opportunity to begin instrumental lessons and start their own musical journey. We can't wait to see which of our students decide to give band a try!
A big thank you to Mrs. Swackhamer and the CHS Band members for spending time with us and bringing some music to MES! 🎵

Celebrating our champions! At Monday evening’s meeting, the Spring Cove School Board recognized the District 6 2A Champion Boys' Volleyball Team for their remarkable season. Athletic Director Stacy Kuster and Volunteer Coach Chuck Gojmerac presented highlights from the year, praising the athletes' exceptional teamwork, resilience, and grit. Adding to the celebration, several team members have committed to continuing their volleyball careers at the collegiate level. The team will be formally honored in December when their District 6 banner is unveiled during a halftime dedication ceremony at a Central High School home basketball game. Volleyball team members who were able to attend the recognition are pictured along with the team photo.

SCMS art teacher, Macie Cutshall, along with a team of student artists, created a commemorative mural that highlights both creativity and patriotism. The design features an American flag, with each white stripe representing a different region of the United States—from cities and farmland to plains and deserts—symbolizing the diversity and unity of our country.
This project was a true community collaboration. Ace Hardware generously donated the paint, and once completed, the mural was featured in the Ag Parade and was displayed throughout the Cove, including Ace Hardware and Martinsburg Area Public Library, before finding its permanent home at Homewood.
We are proud of our students for contributing their talents to a project that not only celebrates our nation’s history, but also strengthens the connection between our schools and the community.

Parade Route starts at the Train Station on Main St, right at Bloomfield Rd, left onto Fairview Ave, ends at the football field.

Gates open at 5:30 PM
All tickets at the field - $5
Homecoming ceremony on the field begins at 6:35pm
Kick off at 7:00 PM
The game will be broadcast on the NFHS Network

Cross Cove Road is shutdown from The Prospector to Ritchey’s Dairy due to an accident. Please choose an alternate route and avoid the area. Buses will be rerouted.

Each Golden Dragon receives a special Golden Dragon locker skin to proudly display on their locker, along with a certificate recognizing their achievement.

Congratulations to golfers Cody Clapper and Tristan Ritchey for finishing amongst the top 10 scores on September 23 at the LHAC championship, earning them All-conference. We are Dragon Proud!
