My name is Jeremy Wiggins. Some will remember me because they grew up with me. Some will remember me because they went to church with me. Some people will know me as the guy who used to write in the newspaper. Some know me as a mechanic.
The point is that I'm a man like everybody else. I've worked blue collar jobs my whole life. I wash grease and dirt off my hands in the evening. I eat dinner with my family. I pay taxes like everyone else. I have no government job. No history as a politician. I'm just a regular guy, doing regular things, to the best of my ability.
Which may lead to the question of why I'm qualified to be a commissioner. And the answer is that I'm a citizen of Graham County, with a love for the county, and an interest in the future of our county. I love Graham County as it is, and I hope to see it continue to persevere as a place where people live to raise their children and those children want to raise their children.
I am a conservative fiscally and socially. I believe that government spending should be minimal, that taxes should be low, that governments should answer to the people, and that governments should be the voice and representative of the people.
I believe that we need change in our local government in order to represent the desires of the citizens of this county. I believe that there are plenty of people, just like me, that are tired of elitism, nepotism, and backroom political dealings.
My primary interests are to shed light on how our county is spending money, find ways to spend less and spend efficiently, find ways to promote a local economy and jobs for our people, to promote Graham County as a place to grow roots and not as a tourist attraction, and to aid in the establishment and retention of important services such as good healthcare.
I am pleased by the support that I have received already, would be pleased to earn more support, and would be pleased to serve the people as an elected official.
