Robert Lee Fire Update:

If you saw activity at the fire station this morning, we were simply holding our monthly training meeting. Today's focus was on search and rescue operations.

It's always great when we can come together, sharpen our skills, and train as a team so we're prepared to serve our community when needed.

As always, we appreciate the continued support this community shows us. Thank you for standing behind your volunteer firefighters!

Robert Lee fire update: We are seeing a lot of much-needed rain across the area, and we are thankful for every drop. While the rain is helping fire conditions, it is also creating dangerous flooding in some areas. A Flood Warning is in effect for northwest Coke County.

Here are a few important high water safety reminders:

• Turn Around, Don’t Drown never drive through flooded roadways. Just a few inches of moving water can sweep a vehicle away.
• Slow down during heavy rain and watch for water-covered roads at night.
• Stay away from low water crossings, creeks, and drainage ditches.
• Keep headlights on and increase following distance during storms.
• Never walk through flood waters the road underneath may be washed out.
• Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts and warnings.
• If you encounter barricades, do not drive around them. They are there for your safety.
• Be especially cautious in rural areas where water can rise quickly.

Please stay weather aware, stay safe, and continue to monitor local forecasts and emergency updates.
