Anyone in a small town feels the push, the nudge, the nod from our older village friends and neighbors. It's what is so special about growing up in towns like Roberts. And those of us of a "certain age" were guided by women and men who only wanted us to succeed.
Dorothy Hill was one of those people.
Dorothy recently passed away at the good ripe age of 94. The family is having services here in Roberts on Saturday, May 9, beginning at the cemetery at 1pm. A reception at the Methodist Church will follow.
If you're so inclined, you may provide a dessert or salad to go along with the refreshments provided by the family.
Our deep condolences to Larry, Lynette, Shirley, Randy and families. We mourn the loss of your mother, too. And we're grateful that you've chosen to remember your mother by suggesting contributions to the Roberts Community Foundation and the Roberts Fire Department.

Dorothy Hill Obituary
Dorothy Hill, 94, formerly of the Red Lodge/Roberts area, died peacefully in her sleep on March 26, 2026, at Benefis Missouri Medical Center in Ft. Benton, Montana.
Dorothy Helen Stroh was born April 29th, 1931, in Laurel, Montana to Katie Weil Stroh and John Stroh. She attended school in Laurel until her marriage to Lawrence Baum of Ballentine in 1948. They farmed there until 1960, when the family moved to Roberts, Montana. Dorothy and Lawrence later divorced.
Dorothy married Bill Hill of Roberts in Las Vegas, Nevada, on January 3rd, 1974. Bill and Dorothy shared most of their married life in Red Lodge, Montana where they took great pride in caring for their beautiful vegetable garden and flower beds. Through Dorothy's careful planning, their backyard hosted displays of color from early spring, throughout summer and into autumn. She was especially fond of roses.
Bill provided her a wonderful life until his passing on June 25th, 2012. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her parents, sister Ester Vogel, brother Roy Stroh and son-in-law Ken DeVries.
She is survived by sons Larry (Laurie) Baum of Highwood, Randy (Nancy) Baum of Columbus; daughters Lynette DeVries of Columbus and Shirley (Gary) Kane of Red Lodge as well as 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Following a 1:00 graveside service at Roberts Cemetery friends and family are invited to a reception at the Roberts Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Roberts Fire Department, Roberts Community Foundation or your favorite charity.
