Well it’s finally here! Robertsville State Park’s first ever Birds, Bees, and Blooms Fest is tomorrow.

Please check out these friendly reminders:

- Pets will not be allowed at this event, so we can keep the owls safe.

- There will be seating at the shelter for the owl program, but please feel free to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Everyone must be seated for the flight demonstration.

- Be prepared to park in grass and walk a little ways to the shelter

We hope to see you there!

Ticks are often unavoidable. They find their way onto your clothes when you're hiking, and you unintentionally bring them home. They are most abundant in the spring and summer, and their bites are often undetectable until you feel a little itch. It is not common to become sick; however, several diseases are transmitted by ticks including Rocky Mountain Fever, Lyme, tularemia, and ehrlichiosis.

Take care by:
- Wearing light-colored clothing that helps to easily spot a tick
- Wear long pants and closed-toed shoes
- Use an insect repellent, especially on your shoes, socks, and pant legs
- Check yourself and your clothes periodically if you will be outside for an extended period
- Do a thorough check all over once you are inside for the day
- Promptly and carefully remove ticks with tweezers and thoroughly clean the area
- Watch for symptoms like rashes, legions, fatigue, and flu-like symptoms; and don't hesitate to seek medical attention

We hope these tips help make your next visit an enjoyable experience.
