Yesterday was your monthly reminder to test your smoke alarms... 🙋 Show of hands who actually did it?

A working smoke alarm isn't optional—it's often the difference between waking up and not waking up.

If you haven't tested yours yet, there's still time! It only takes a few minutes, and those few minutes could save your life and the lives of your loved ones.

✅ Test your smoke alarms monthly.
✅ Replace batteries as needed (if applicable).
✅ Replace smoke alarms that are 10 years old or older.

At 17:18 hrs on 7/28/2026, the Robinson Fire Protection District was dispatched to a fire in the deli area at the Robinson Walmart. First units arrived to find a fire in a cooler in the produce area of the store. Firefighters immediately entered the building to begin extinguishing the fire. Additional teams were formed and a complete search of the structure was conducted to ensure all occupants had safely evacuated. Unfortunately, a large amount of smoke was produced, which filled the majority of the store. Due to the size of the building, ventilation operations were extended. Fire crews worked with staff to redirect HVAC systems and create openings on the roof and the exterior of the building to remove the large amounts of smoke. No injuries were reported and the last unit cleared the scene at 21:00 hrs. The Robinson Fire Protection District was assisted by Lamotte Township Fire, United Life Care Ambulance, the Robinson Police Department and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department. Although the fire was contained to a small area, the building suffered smoke damage throughout the structure. Robinson Fire and the Illinois State Fire Marshall’s Office conducted a cause and origin investigation and believe the fire to be accidental in nature.
It should be noted that a Walmart employee and a bystander, without hesitation, utilized fire extinguishers prior to fire department arrival, which significantly slowed the spread of fire. Walmart associates were fantastic with their prompt evacuation of their customers and employees as well as their overall actions during this emergency.

🚨🚨PRESS RELEASE🚨🚨
7/20/2025

At 19:33hrs on 7/18/2026, The Robinson Fire Protection District was dispatched to a residential structure fire at the 1100 block of W. Cherry Street in Robinson. First arriving units arrived on scene in less than 5 minutes and found a single story home with moderate smoke showing from the front door. Crews immediately began an offensive interior attack to extinguish the fire and perform a primary search to ensure no occupants were still inside. Firefighters quickly put out the fire and began overhaul to look for any remaining hot spots. No injuries were reported and all units cleared the scene at 22:33hrs. The home suffered moderate fire damage as well as significant smoke damage throughout the structure. The cause and origin of this fire is currently under investigation by Robinson Fire and the Illinois State Fire Marshall’s Office.

On 7/10/2026 at 21:39hrs, The Robinson Fire Protection District was dispatched to a commercial structure fire at the 200 block of N. Cross Street in Robinson. First units arrived on scene in less than 4 minutes and found a commercial building with fire showing from the rear. Crews immediately deployed hand lines to begin extinguishing the fire as well as searched the structure to ensure all occupants had safely evacuated. No injuries were reported and all units cleared the scene at 23:24hrs. The Robinson Fire Protection District was assisted by Lamotte Township Fire, United Life Care Ambulance, the Robinson Police Department and Ameren. The building suffered significant fire damage within the attic as well as moderate smoke damage throughout the structure. The cause and origin of this fire is currently under investigation by Robinson Fire and the Illinois State Fire Marshall’s Office.
