Today, members of the Robinson Volunteer Fire Department joined the Robinson Police Department and the team at Anytime Fitness to complete the Murph Challenge in honor of Memorial Day and those who gave their lives in service to our country.

Captain Rigle and Firefighter Shelton represented RVFD during the workout, which is named after Lt. Michael P. Murphy, a U.S. Navy SEAL who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2005 and posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.

The Murph Challenge consists of:
• 1-mile run
• 100 pull-ups
• 200 push-ups
• 300 squats
• 1-mile run

Events like this are about more than fitness — they are about discipline, teamwork, sacrifice, and remembering those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. We appreciate Robinson PD and Anytime Fitness for the opportunity to train together and strengthen the partnerships that help serve our community every day.

On May 26 at approximately 10:13pm, Robinson Volunteer Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire after a homeowner reported their house had been struck by lightning and the odor of smoke was detected inside the home. Thanks to the resident’s quick actions and immediate notification to 911, firefighters were able to arrive quickly, locate the fire in the soffit and attic, and contain the damage before it could spread further through the home.

We are thankful no injuries were reported. We also appreciate the assistance of the Midnight Hope Foundation, who helped secure temporary lodging for the displaced residents and their pets.

This incident is an important reminder that early detection and immediate notification to 911 truly make a difference. Quick reporting gives firefighters the best opportunity to stop a fire while it is still small and prevent more significant damage.

Today, we celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, wives, daughters, and mother figures who keep our families, our department, and our community strong.

At the Robinson Volunteer Fire Department, we are especially grateful for the moms who answer calls in the middle of the night, support their families through long trainings and emergency responses, and sacrifice time at home so others can be safe. We also recognize the spouses and mothers behind the scenes who support our firefighters and EMS personnel every single day.

Your strength, compassion, patience, and sacrifice do not go unnoticed.

From all of us at the Robinson Volunteer Fire Department — Happy Mother’s Day! 🌷🚒❤️
