🔥 HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT JUNE 18🔥

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for all of North and Central Texas from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM today, with heat index values expected to reach 110°F.

🌡️ Take precautions if you will be outdoors:
✅ Drink plenty of water
✅ Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing
✅ Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning
✅ Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day

👶🐶 Never leave children or pets in a vehicle, even for a few minutes. Temperatures inside a vehicle can become deadly in a very short amount of time.

👵 Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone who may be vulnerable to extreme heat.

⚠️ Know the signs of heat-related illness:
• Heat Exhaustion: Heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, nausea
• Heat Stroke: High body temperature, confusion, loss of consciousness

🚑 Heat stroke is a life-threatening emergency. If you suspect someone is suffering from heat stroke, call 911 immediately.

***Important Notice for Mobile Food Vendors from the Waco-McLennan Public Health District – HB 2844 Implementation***

HB 2844 creates a uniform statewide licensing system for all Mobile Food Vendors (MFVs) in Texas. Beginning July 1, 2026, all MFVs must be licensed with the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to legally operate in Texas. Under this new law, mobile food vendors are no longer required to obtain a separate health permits in every city and county where you operate.

A town hall will be held by Waco-McLennan Public Health District tomorrow, June 18th, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. to go over HB 2844 and the new licensing agreements.

🚨 FLOOD RESPONSE SUMMARY 🚨

June 14-15, 2026 Robinson experienced a historic flooding event that resulted in numerous water rescues, evacuations, and road closures throughout our community.

Between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM, Robinson Volunteer Fire Department and Robinson Police Department responded to 27 calls for service related to the flooding emergency.

During the incident, responders safely rescued or evacuated:
✅ 31 people
✅ 1 pet

Significant rescue operations occurred along the Interstate 35 corridor, where multiple vehicles became stranded in rapidly rising floodwaters. One of those rescues involved an out-of-town ambulance transporting a pediatric patient. Additional evacuations were conducted at a local RV Park as water levels continued to rise along the creek.

This response required a tremendous team effort. Robinson firefighters and Robinson Police Department officers worked alongside personnel from:

City of Waco - Public Information Fire Department Swift Water Rescue Team
Freestone County Water Rescue
Texas Game Wardens
Texas Department of Public Safety
Mclennan County Sheriff's Office
AMR Waco
Lorena Fire Department
Waco Police Association

In total, more than 50 emergency responders worked throughout the night and early morning hours to protect lives and assist those affected by the flooding.

We are incredibly grateful to all of the first responders, dispatchers, public works personnel, and partner agencies who answered the call and worked through challenging conditions to keep our community safe.

Most importantly, we are thankful that everyone involved made it home safely.

⚠️ Remember: Never drive around barricades or through flooded roadways. Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Just a few inches of moving water can sweep a vehicle off the roadway.

Update (1130pm)
👉All rescue efforts on IH-35 have been successful.
👉Rescuers are continuing to work on getting roadways clear of stranded vehicles and back open to traffic.
👉The Red Cross has been contacted to assist stranded motorists with shelter for the night.

⚠️Roadways in and around Robinson, especially near Flat Creek, are still affected by rising waters.⚠️

⚠️Please do not go around barriers or attempt to travel through roadways covered in water.⚠️

Update (1040pm)

Flat Creek bridge on Old Robinson Road near Deanna Street is overcome with water. Do not attempt to pass. Crews are working to place barriers now!

Greig Drive is currently flooded around Hoffmeyer/Flat Creek area.

The water is continuing to rise and flooding issues are increasing along Flat Creek into/through Robinson.

Rescue efforts are still underway our on both NB and SB IH-35.

We have received mutual aid from Lorena Fire Department, Freestone County water rescue, Waco Fire, and the game wardens.

Emergency management is in the area as well.

Rain is expected throughout the night. Stay tuned to local news and weather to monitor the roadways before getting out in the morning. We will update as we can.
