With summertime approaching, we want to provide a few tips for making it through that Texas heat.

Stay Cool 🧊
-Lightweight, loose-fitting clothing is best
- Stay indoors with air-conditioning as much as possible
- Limit outdoor activity to when it's coolest (morning and evening)
- Do not exercise in the heat

Stay Hydrated 💧
- Drink plenty of fluids (avoid sugary or alcoholic drinks). Water is your new best friend.
- When you sweat, salt and minerals escape your body. Electrolyte drinks can help replace them.

Stay Informed 📢
- Check the weather for extreme heat alerts
- Learn the symptoms of heat-related illnesses and how to treat them. Some of these symptoms include dizziness, headache, fatigue, and confusion.

***Fire Hydrant Flushing***

A fire hydrant at Surrey Ridge and West Moonlight is being flushed today, June 8th, for approximately 4 hours.

Why do we flush fire hydrants?
Water systems utilize fire hydrants for several reasons, one of those being to flush water distribution systems in order to maintain the correct level of disinfectant in water.

- Disinfectants degrade over time and need testing and adjustments to keep the water safe.

- Heat speeds up the degrading of disinfectants, so flushing is especially important during the summer.
