🚨 Move Over or Slow Down – It's the Law in Texas 🚨

When you see emergency vehicles, law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, tow trucks, utility vehicles, TxDOT vehicles, or animal control officers stopped on the side of the road with their emergency lights activated, Texas law requires drivers to either:

➡️ Move over to the next lane if it is safe to do so, OR
➡️ Slow down to 20 mph below the posted speed limit if changing lanes is unsafe or impossible (or slow to 5 mph if the speed limit is 25 mph or less).

These professionals work just feet away from passing traffic while assisting motorists, investigating crashes, removing hazards, rescuing animals, and performing other critical duties. A moment of caution from drivers can prevent serious injuries or fatalities.

Violating the Texas Move Over/Slow Down Law can result in significant fines and, in some cases, criminal charges if a violation results in bodily injury.

Please do your part to keep our first responders, road workers, animal control officers, and other roadside personnel safe.

The Robinson Police Department would like to remind residents that a list of all active, approved solicitor permits for the City of Robinson can be found at the link below.

At this time, there are no active approved solicitor permits within the City of Robinson.

If someone is soliciting in your neighborhood, we encourage you to contact the Robinson Police Department's non-emergency line at 254-662-0525 so an officer can respond and verify whether the individual is in compliance with city ordinances.

We have received reports of solicitors going door to door wearing reflective vests indicating they are with Oncor. We have also noticed several posts from our residents about this. The solicitors are reportedly asking to see electric meters and utility bills. Oncor advised this is not their employees soliciting. If you encounter these solicitors, please contact us immediately at 254-662-0525 so our officers can respond.

The Robinson Police Department proudly welcomed Officer Manuel Licea today as he was officially sworn in as one of our newest police officers.

Officer Licea joins Robinson PD with four years of experience in corrections and recently completed the MCC Law Enforcement Academy. He will officially graduate from the academy this evening.

We were honored to have several of Officer Licea’s family members, friends, and colleagues attend today’s swearing-in ceremony as they celebrated this important milestone alongside him.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Licea and welcoming him to the Robinson Police Department family. We look forward to his continued service to our community.

A great reminder from Animal Birth Control Clinic to get your pets microchipped!

🐾 June is National Microchipping Month! 🐾

Every pet parent knows the feeling. The panic that sets in when you can't find your pet. One open gate, a broken leash, or a moment of fear during a storm can change everything in an instant. Today, a group of our officers completed the Murph Challenge.

Normally, we would have completed this workout on Monday in observance of Memorial Day, but with several members out of town for the holiday, we decided to postpone it until today.

The Murph Challenge is a tough, meaningful workout honoring Lt. Michael P. Murphy, a Navy SEAL who gave his life in service to our country in 2005. It’s also a way to remember and pay tribute to all fallen service members.

The workout consists of:
• 1 mile run
• 100 pull-ups
• 200 push-ups
• 300 squats
• 1 mile run
(All while wearing a 20 lb vest or body armor.)

May 10th through May 16th is National Police Week, a time to recognize the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers across the country.

We thought this would be a great opportunity to share some of our department’s activity and service statistics from January through today:

• Calls for Service: 5,172 (including officer-initiated activity)
• Arrests: 57
• Citations Issued: 641
