At 01:13 Wednesday morning RPFD Volunteers were alerted to a possible fire on Somerville St. 330 arrived shortly after dispatch, confirmed visible fire from the home and transmitted the working fire. On arrival of Engine 1, the crew immediately stretched a line and began knocking down fire. Crews from Truck 1 and Maywood Truck 17 conducted a primary search and confirmed the home was safely evacuated. Engine 2 along with Maywood Engine 19 stretched a second line to the garage area while companies opened up and checked for extension.

The fast response from RPFD members as well as our mutual aid partners had the main body of fire quickly knocked down, and command placed the incident under control within 40 minutes of dispatch. There were no injuries reported at this incident.

We thank all our mutual aid companies who assisted both on scene and in coverage of our town while we operated.

On Friday 2/20 just after 7pm RPFD was dispatched for a report of smoke and flames visible from an auto body shop in town. 330 arrived and confirmed smoke showing from the building, and transmitted the working fire. Engine 1 arrived shortly after dispatch and quickly deployed a handline into the building. A fire was located in the spray booth ventilation system of the auto body shop. Crews from Truck 1, Engine 2, and Maywood Truck 17 went to the roof in the area of the ventilation ductwork. A handline was stretched to the roof while the area was opened up.

A quick response from our volunteers along with all of our mutual aid partners kept the fire from extending any further.

We thank all of our mutual aid that assisted both on scene and in coverage of our town while we operated.

Just after 4am this morning RPFD was dispatched for an activated fire alarm at the NYSW Railroad building on Railroad Ave. While en route PD reported an odor of burning from the structure. 330 arrived moments later and reported smoke showing and upgraded the call to a working fire. Crews forced entry and located a fire extending to the attic. Companies made an aggressive attack and had the majority of the fire under control quickly.

Thanks to the fast response from our volunteers, as well as our mutual aid partners who assisted, the fire was quickly knocked down with no further extension was reported.

This incident is another example of the importance of working smoke detectors. A fully operational fire alarm alerted us to this incident early.

Thank you to our mutual aid partners who assisted both on scene and in covering our firehouse while companies operated.
