Each year, the Rochelle Fire Department’s Social Organization awards a $2,500 scholarship to a student who exemplifies the qualities of community service, academic achievement, and personal responsibility. This year’s scholarship recipient is Macy Lewis.
Throughout her high school career, Macy has shown a strong commitment to helping others and supporting her community. As an officer in the Educators Rising club, she’s been involved in activities that focus on education and service. She’s also stayed active in dance and has spent time coaching RJT dance, sharing her love of working with kids. That passion has helped guide her goal of becoming an elementary school teacher.
Macy has worked hard to balance school, volunteering, and a job, showing a great work ethic and sense of responsibility. She’s always willing to lend a hand and has made a positive impact on the people around her.
As one of our own “fire kids”, as we lovingly refer to them, Macy has never taken that connection for granted. She’s always been quick to jump in and help with department and community events, and we’ve truly appreciated her willingness to be involved.
We’re excited to see what’s ahead for Macy. With her drive and dedication, she’s set up for success in college and beyond. We wish her all the best and thank her for everything she’s done for our department and community and Macy…. we are so proud of you!
