UPDATE: The section of S. 2nd St. between 1st Ave and Ave C will be closed to complete the water main repair. The intersections will be open for travel.

The Water Department is repairing a water main break on the 200 block of S. 2nd St. today (8.28.26). When traveling in this area, please use caution.

On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, Rochelle Municipal Utilities will be locating a water main break requiring a lane closure of the eastbound lane of RT 38 from 100 block of N. 15th St, south of the BNSF Railroad crossing, to the intersection of Lincoln Ave and N. 14th St. The railroad crossing will be impacted by the lane closure.

Flaggers will be onsite directing traffic.
If it is possible, please plan to take an alternate route. If you must travel in this area, please use caution and expect delays. We appreciate your patience as we make these restorations promptly and safely.

Woodlawn acres and Shagri-la will be restored around 11 pm. Flagg Station, Thorpe, Titus, and several houses along Rt.38 will be without power for several hours yet as that is where the bulk of the damage remains. We appreciate your patience.

We are aware of a power outage on the west edge of our territory, affecting the Shangri-La, Woodlawn Acres, and Flagg Station areas. This is due to a tree that has fallen on a powerline. Linemen have been dispatched to address the issue. We cannot provide an estimated restoration time at this time.

Community members are invited to attend the Energy Action Plan Open House on August 11th at Rochelle City Hall. The event will feature a presentation of the draft Energy Action Plan developed over the past year and provide an opportunity to learn about strategies aimed at supporting reliable energy service, stable energy costs, and long-term community resilience.
