I was excited to attend my 10th PTA Leadership Day yesterday morning. Every September the Rochester Community PTA Council begins the year by bringing together all the PTA executive board members and council committee chairs from each school in the district, welcoming everyone to the new school year and setting the stage for all the amazing things that will take place. It’s a great time to get inspired and meet other PTA parent leaders.
This year, I noticed a theme shared by all the key speakers at the event, from Superintendent Russo to Liz Schroeck, Rochester Education Association President to Michelle Bueltel representing the Board of Education - community. Everyone thanked the PTA leaders for their work in creating true community in their schools. For making RCS not just a public school district, but a community school district.
Having served our schools through PTA for 14 years, I have been fortunate to be a part of this community. Not just at the individual schools where my children attended, but within the larger Rochester Community Schools, MI. We truly have something special here and I encourage all parents and caregivers to get involved with PTA and the great things they are doing for our students. The relationships I have made with parents, teachers, staff and administrators throughout our district have been invaluable to me as a parent leader and will continue to inform me if elected to serve on the Board of Education.
Thank you Council President Jamie Sak and the PTA Council E Board for planning the day! And thank you to Chief Financial CU for hosting us all!
