I was excited to attend my 10th PTA Leadership Day yesterday morning. Every September the Rochester Community PTA Council begins the year by bringing together all the PTA executive board members and council committee chairs from each school in the district, welcoming everyone to the new school year and setting the stage for all the amazing things that will take place. It’s a great time to get inspired and meet other PTA parent leaders.

This year, I noticed a theme shared by all the key speakers at the event, from Superintendent Russo to Liz Schroeck, Rochester Education Association President to Michelle Bueltel representing the Board of Education - community. Everyone thanked the PTA leaders for their work in creating true community in their schools. For making RCS not just a public school district, but a community school district.

Having served our schools through PTA for 14 years, I have been fortunate to be a part of this community. Not just at the individual schools where my children attended, but within the larger Rochester Community Schools, MI. We truly have something special here and I encourage all parents and caregivers to get involved with PTA and the great things they are doing for our students. The relationships I have made with parents, teachers, staff and administrators throughout our district have been invaluable to me as a parent leader and will continue to inform me if elected to serve on the Board of Education.

Thank you Council President Jamie Sak and the PTA Council E Board for planning the day! And thank you to Chief Financial CU for hosting us all!

🦅💙 Falcon Frenzy is TONIGHT! 💙🦅

Join Rochester High School Falcons from 4-7 PM for the Falcon Frenzy community tailgate before the game kicks off at 7 PM against Rochester Adams High School ! 🏈🎉

I absolutely LOVE this tradition of bringing our community together with a focus on students at feeder schools to be part of the fun! It’s a great way to build connections, celebrate our students, and enjoy what makes RCS such a special community. 💙

The Rochester Forward team will be there: participating, enjoying the festivities, and mingling with our community! 🙌

👋 Look for us and come say hi! Introduce us to your friends, stop for a chat, and enjoy a great night supporting our students and schools!

🏈💙🍎 See you tonight!

💙 The Power of Community & Advocacy!

Two years ago, Adams High School PTSA President Suzy Sebastian listened to Rochester PAC moms sharing about their students’ needs and turned that conversation into action, creating a Hush Tent at Adams during Gold Rush. 💡

It was such a hit that the idea spread! 🙌 Now, all three Rochester Community Schools, MI high schools have sensory friendly quiet zones at their feeder school celebrations! 💙

I was so thankful to see Suzy’s advocacy and commitment to inclusion for all students recognized with the 2026 Bright Ideas Award at PTA Council Founders Day with Rochester Community PTA Council👏✨

Even more meaningful is seeing the framework she helped create adopted and implemented by other advocates across the district.

Grateful for communication from Rochester Community Schools, MI on this issue. Many families use Edulog app to time pick up and drop off at bus stops across our community.

Rochester Community Schools has been notified that updates are required for the Edulog Parent Portal, the technology platform used to track the location of school buses in our district. Families may experience intermittent outages or disruptions during this time.

As a parent advocate, I was proud to serve on the 2025 RCS Master Property Plan Committee alongside other community members including Laurin Gracey-Parker for RCS Board of Education.

We heard a tremendous amount of important information about our district’s facilities, enrollment trends, and the evolving needs of our students and educators.

One thing that stood out to me was the district’s clear commitment to thoughtfully meeting those needs. One especially positive outcome was creating feeder school “lanes” for our special education students, helping build stronger relationships and continuity from K–12.

What stood out to me was the importance of looking beyond formulas. We must consider class sizes and the unique needs of individual schools and neighborhoods, including dynamic enrollment, pockets of new housing, and declining birth rates.

Parents, educators, administrators, and our Board must continue working together with students at the center.

If elected, I’ll prioritize student needs, educator support, and thoughtful planning for the future of Rochester Community Schools, MI with a commitment to collaboration, responsible governance, careful stewardship and lowest class sizes possible.
