City of Rochester Hills- Government

City of Rochester Hills- Government "Innovative by nature" Welcome to Rochester Hills. No matter where you’re coming from or what brought you here, I’m confident you will enjoy your new community.

On behalf of our entire city staff and your fellow 78,000 neighbors, I want to congratulate you on a wonderful decision. Rochester Hills is truly the jewel of Oakland County. Take a drive, or better yet, a bike ride through any of our tree-lined subdivisions and you’ll see quickly that families are what make our community great. Our City is perhaps best known for its parks, trails and recreational

offerings. And once you settle in, take a swim or rent a paddle boat at Spencer Park, catch a soccer game over at Borden, enjoy exploring Michigan's largest playground at Innovation Hills, or take a walk in nature at Bloomer Park. All of these escapes are within just a few miles of your new home. And after you’ve experienced some of what our community has to offer, please feel free to stop by City Hall to let us know what you think. We are thrilled to have you here and hope that you will come to love our city just as much as we do. We were excited to be part of the groundbreaking ceremony last week for Oakland County's second neuro-inclusive neighborhood at Auburn Oaks. The site, located off Auburn Road, will feature 55 new homes, reserving 17 condos and two single-family homes for adults with disabilities. The first Oakland County neighborhood of this kind - Walton Oaks - broke ground in Rochester Hills in September 2024.

What a vibrant celebration of culture!

The Rochester Hills Government Youth Council truly brought the world to our doorstep at the 2026 Cultural Fair! It was incredible to see our community come together to learn, share, and celebrate the beautiful diversity that makes our City so special.

From traditional dances and history lessons to delicious food and meaningful interfaith conversations, the day was all about building bridges and being "good neighbors" through understanding.

A huge thank you to all the student organizers, sponsors, performers, and residents who made this event a massive success. We are so proud of the unity and curiosity shown by our community!

With the warm, dry weather we've been having, our young trees need a little extra love. If you have had a tree planted in the last two years, it needs your help! Young trees don't have deep root systems, and passing rain showers usually aren't enough to keep them healthy during a dry spell. Remember: If in doubt, end their drought! Contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions about caring for your trees.

In an effort to keep our residents informed, we wanted to share that Priority Waste is running about a day behind on yard waste service throughout the region. The service-related issues have also led to an increase in calls and caused lengthy wait times.

Rochester Hills does have a dedicated phone number residents can use (248-906-8982), but the best way is to submit your request through their online portal.

The company recently hired a new CEO and received a large amount of private funding to enhance operations and service. The City team has already met the new CEO and made it clear that service must improve for our residents in the coming months. We will continue to keep you posted with updates and appreciate your patience.

The entrance road to Bloomer Park will be CLOSED this Thursday (June 4) for the addition of speed humps to the roadway. The park will remain open to pedestrian and bicycle traffic, and vehicles can park at Clinton River Oaks Park (formerly Yates Park) to then walk or bike into Bloomer. We expect the entrance road to reopen on Friday morning. Thank you for you patience as we enhance safety for park visitors.

We did it again! Rochester Hills has once again been named THE Best Place to Live in Michigan and is now the 7th Best Place to Live in America, according to U.S. News and World Report! We are absolutely overjoyed to receive this recognition for a second straight year and to jump up the list from No. 9 to No. 7. And, honestly, we wouldn't be the best place to live without all of the residents and businesses who call our City home. This award is for all of us!
