We often speak about our pillars of Character, Tradition and, Achievement. If we had a 4th pillar it would be, Legacy.

Ginny and Bill Ames were long time coaches, RHS Alumni and two of Rochester High School’s biggest fans. They loved the horse shoe and the symbolism behind it. Legend has it, when you hang a horse shoe above your door, all who pass under it are bestowed with luck and protection.

Both Ginny and Bill used the horseshoe as part of their coaching life. To this day the RHS cheer team proudly wear horseshoes on their varsity letter jackets. The football team has displayed horseshoes on their football helmets as a sign of good luck and solidarity.

Mrs. Collier was gifted this horse shoe by The May Family (daughter of Ginny and Bill), as a welcome back gift at the beginning of this school year. This horse shoe hangs above the Principal Collier’s door. A reminder to all Falcons that RHS is truly a special place, built by a community that honors and lives out our pillars of Character, Tradition, and Achievement every day.

Thank you to the May Family for this gift of Falcon history, and reminding us of the enduring legacy of two Falcons that fully embraced RHS and what it means to be a Falcon.

Falcons, Rochester Community Schools will be giving the ASVAB on November 12th at 3:00 PM. If you do not know what the ASVAB is, it provides students with an outline of jobs they qualify for in the military. If you are interested in learning more about the ASVAB and military careers, we will have individuals from multiple branches in different trade jobs available at an Advisory session on October 28th. We will have military members in the health sciences, mechanics, and construction. Sign up using the QR codes or flyers around school!
