TEAM RPD SUNDAY FUNDAY

Good morning, Rochester!

It's Sunday. The coffee is brewing, the grill is warming up, and somewhere out there someone is thinking, "Maybe today is the day I make a terrible decision."

We're here to politely suggest...don't.

Our officers would much rather spend the day enjoying the sunshine, waving at kids, and debating whether a hot dog is a sandwich than filling out paperwork because you decided to test a theory that started with, "Watch this..."

So enjoy your Sunday:

Go for a horse ride
Mow the lawn
Go to the beach
Take a nap in a hammock
Eat something unhealthy and call it self-care

DON'T:

DAFO
Commit crimes
Drive like you're auditioning for NASCAR
Give us a reason to learn your middle name

Remember folks, every arrest starts with someone believing they won't get caught.

Don't DAFO (Drive Around & Find Out).

Have a safe and fun Sunday from all of us at Team RPD!

P.S. We'd much rather see your vacation photos on Facebook than your booking photo.

TEAM RPD AT SPECIAL OLYMPICS!

Today, Team RPD had the honor of participating in the Special Olympics Massachusetts Cruiser Convoy, and what an incredible day it was!

We had the opportunity to spend time with some truly amazing athletes whose determination, positivity, and sportsmanship remind us all what it means to never give up. We were also proud to help present gold and silver medals to these outstanding competitors as they celebrated their achievements.

A special thank you goes out to Massachusetts Special Olympics for everything they do to support these incredible athletes and their families. We would also like to recognize Chief Kevin Considine, of the Harwich Police Department, whose dedication, leadership, and unwavering advocacy for Special Olympics helped make today's event such a success.

The smiles, high-fives, and excitement throughout the day were a reminder that this event is about much more than competition, it's about inclusion, friendship, perseverance, and community.

Thank you for allowing Team RPD to be a small part of such a special day. Congratulations to all of the athletes, you are all champions in our eyes!

Fugitive Friday

This week's Fugitive Friday features Dana Snell of New Bedford, who is currently wanted on a straight warrant issued by the Wareham District Court following an investigation conducted by the Rochester Police Department Detective Bureau.

The individual is ALLEGED to have committed the following offenses:

▪️ Malicious Destruction of Property Over $1,200
▪️ Assault and Battery
▪️ Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon
▪️ Breaking & Entering a Building at Nighttime for the Purpose of Committing a Felony

After investigating the incident, Rochester Police officers developed PROBABLE CAUSE and applied for criminal charges. PROBABLE CAUSE is the legal standard that exists when the facts and circumstances known to officers would lead a reasonable person to believe that a crime was committed and that a specific individual committed it.

The application was reviewed by the court, and a clerk-magistrate AGREED THAT PROBABLE CAUSE EXISTED, resulting in the issuance of a straight warrant for the individual's arrest.

If you know the whereabouts of Dana, please contact the Rochester Police Department. Do not attempt to apprehend the individual yourself.

AS ALWAYS, ALL SUSPECTS ARE INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW!

TEAM RPD & THE U.S. MARSHALS SERVICE: A PARTNERSHIP THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

The Rochester Police Department is proud to work alongside the United States Marshals Service District of Massachusetts Fugitive Task Force, one of the most effective fugitive apprehension teams in the country.

According to a recent U.S. Marshals Service press release, the Massachusetts Fugitive Task Force apprehended 49 violent fugitives during the month of May 2026 alone, including individuals wanted for homicide, child r**e, shootings, fi****ms offenses, narcotics violations, and other violent crimes.

What many people may not realize is that the Rochester Police Department is an active participant in this task force, working side-by-side with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to locate and apprehend dangerous offenders who threaten the safety of our communities.

We are especially proud that two Rochester Police officers currently serve as Special Deputy U.S. Marshals assigned to the HIDTA Fugitive Task Force, assisting in investigations and operations that extend far beyond the borders of our town. Their work often takes them across Massachusetts and sometimes beyond state lines in pursuit of individuals who believe they can avoid justice.

This partnership provides Rochester with direct access to federal resources, intelligence, training, and investigative capabilities while allowing our officers to contribute to making communities safer throughout the Commonwealth.

As U.S. Marshal Dennis Matulewicz stated, "If you are a wanted violent fugitive, we will find you." That mission is made possible through the teamwork and dedication of agencies working together every day.

We are honored to stand alongside the U.S. Marshals Service and our law enforcement partners in the ongoing effort to hold violent offenders accountable and keep our communities safe.

THINK ABOUT IT THURSDAY

Take a good look at this photo.

The tiny amount of fentanyl shown next to that penny is enough to take a life. That's how dangerous this drug can be.

Every day, people across the country suffer overdoses after taking pills they believed were legitimate prescription medications. Counterfeit pills made to look like Xanax, Percocet, OxyContin, Adderall, and other medications are often laced with fentanyl. In many cases, the person taking the pill has no idea what they're actually putting into their body.

If a pill was not prescribed specifically to you by a medical professional, don't take it.

If it didn't come directly from a licensed pharmacy, don't trust it.

One decision can have permanent consequences.

At Team RPD, we aren't posting this to scare you, we're posting it because we care about our community. Whether you're a parent, grandparent, friend, or student, take a moment today to have a conversation about the dangers of fentanyl and counterfeit pills.

A difficult conversation today could save a life tomorrow.

If you or a loved one is struggling with addiction, please know that help is available and recovery is possible. You are not alone. Reach out to us, and we will do everything we can to guide you toward the resources and support you need. Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

TEAM RPD-MAY BY THE NUMBERS

Another month in the books, and our officers were out there doing what they do best, serving the community, checking on businesses, answering calls, and occasionally reminding people that traffic laws are more than just friendly suggestions.

🚔 110 motor vehicle stops
🏢 928 building and area checks
🐾 31 animal control calls
🚑 36 medical calls
📞 15 emergency 911 calls
👮 14 arrests
📋 1,398 total calls for service

As always, thank you to the residents who help make Rochester a great place to live, work, and visit. Keep locking your doors, driving safely, and making good choices.

And remember...

Team RPD prefers building checks over booking photos. But if you choose to DAFO (Drive Around and Find Out), there's a very good chance you'll find your booking photo on our page.

Stay safe, Rochester. We'd much rather wave at you than process you.
