A governing principle in America is our constitutional Separation of Powers.
Dictated by our city's "weak mayor" Charter, Rochester's mayor is officially NONpartisan. Our mayor is also part of the Executive branch of local government.
Residents are easily confused as both mayor Norton and hired administrator Zelms have choosen optics of power by sitting high up on the legislative City Council dias... but neither are legislators.
As a former high school science teacher, I have now lived/worked in Rochester for decades paying close attention to details and patterns in our local economy. I have consistently advocated for honesty, tri-government collaboration, and fiscal transparency.
As a Rochester City Councilmember my voting record has proven to be non-partisan, voting for sustainability and AGAINST high property taxes (stemming from a ballooning budget without travel receipts). I've promoted competitive bidding, authentic public engagement, and real accessibility. I have supported essential workers, small buisnesses, and funded public safety, all while advocating fiercely for affordability. Rochester families are struggling to put food on their tables and have affordable housing, we need more than broken downtown pavers and an over-priced sport complex...residents need stability, safety, and leaders they trust.
I've played these games before...and I do not like this game with an uneven playing feild. A game filled with unchecked city administration power, cronyism, and hidden agendas. To change corrupt rules, it starts with transparency from within.
Rochester's mayor cannot play in secret with paid lobbyists, party politics, or be in bed with big money and power.
Government conflict-of-interests need to be reported, independent audits done, and ALL receipts exposed. There is no such thing as a "free lunch", the strings attached need to be made public.
As a former local legislator who authentically listens, shows up, and does not rubber stamp; I have been asked by residents from both political parties to run for mayor. We can't even have civil discussions without first knowing what is happening behind closed doors.
I have been asked to help end propaganda, help amplify resident voices, and protect our constitutional rights. Government leaders should never be above the law.
I have been asked to run for Mayor to help change the rules of this hidden political game by putting residents in their place, first. Rochester residents have the right to know what is happening in City Hall and where every dollar of their taxes is spent.
Please, please research the facts, dig deeper then tabloid headlines and vote this summer. Vote for transparency on (or before) August 11th. Vote for someone proven to have the resilience to show up, speak up, and demand government accountability.
Vote Molly for Mayor 2026.
Transparency is trust and integrity matters.
