Artist Spotlight: Kim Butters
Kim enjoys solving puzzles - like how to fit a whole bunch of little pieces of glass into one solid (and beautiful) creation. Her glass work comes in a huge array of small decorative 3-D works to full-size windows. Bonus - she does quilting, too!

Artist Spotlight: Kay Fox of Fox Finishings
I grew up in Chokio, MN and enjoyed drawing. Life on a farm, growing up with eleven siblings, meant simple forms of entertainment. After my college years in lab medicine, I focused on my family with 3 children, worked at Mayo Clinic and Rochester Public Schools, enjoyed vocal music and continued to draw. Looking back, I was always creating something for my kids and their friends, creating free hand drawings on t-shirts for their themed birthday parties, and creating customized wallpaper for my kids' rooms. I didn’t even realize that was unique! I discovered fluid acrylics 7 years ago. There are limitless ways to embellish express color and movement. My pieces are primarily abstract and are meant to evoke emotion with emphasis on earth, sky, nature, and love of water; very organic. I also create earrings, magnets and jewelry with the paint that drips off my canvases. Painting fluid acrylics with a brush is a new art form for me. I am still discovering and expanding my horizons through fluid art focusing now on florals, fruits and vegetables as well as other things found in nature. You can find my art at Gallery 24 and SEMVA Art Gallery. I serve on the Board of Directors for both galleries. My creative process usually begins in Rochester although you may find me painting during the summer near the water on Otter Tail Lake.

Artist Spotlight: Ginni Cormack
I create wheel-thrown and hand-constructed pottery and decorative art. Many of my wheel pieces are hand altered or ‘painted’ with glazes to create texture, pattern and images. I alter surfaces by carving out areas and adding clay to the surfaces also. Coils and slabs allow me to develop surfaces of wonderful texture which glazes that flow and break over to enhance the altered surfaces. Recently, I have been working with the ancient Japanese form of Kurinuki – removing clay from within a shape to create a vessel. I have been creating a number of sculptural forms the last few years. With these I also incorporate the traditional surface techniques of sgraffito and mishima.

Artist Spotlight: Julie Yost of Bold North Batiks

Julie Yost is a fiber artist living and working in Rochester, Minnesota. Her work focuses on the fusion between science and art. Natural dyes from leaves and plants, chemical processes and sunlight are key components in the techniques she uses. These techniques include eco-printing, cyanotype printing, tatakizome and batik. Julie received an Emerging Artist Grant from SEMAC, the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council, in 2024. She has exhibited her work at 125 LIVE and Gallery 24. Sharing her knowledge - and her joy for making - has been a lifelong passion for Julie and in 2018 she began teaching many of these techniques professionally.

Artist Spotlight: Denise Dupras
Photographing nature is my true passion. My aim is to capture moments so vividly that viewers feel as though they were there with me when I took the shot. Often, I share the stories behind my photographs, giving them deeper meaning and life. While I've been fortunate to travel to all seven continents, many of my favorite subjects, like common loons, owls, and other birds, are found much closer to home. Each year, I journey to Hawaii to capture humpback whales' majestic displays and the islands' breathtaking scenery. My favorite place, truly, is anywhere I have my camera in hand. Is it luck? I believe photographers make their own luck by being ready when opportunity strikes. I hope you find as much joy in my photographs as I did in creating them.

Artist Spotlight: Joe Armstrong
Joe Armstrong has lived in Rochester with his wife and three children since 1989, working at both IBM and Western Digital. Joe has done woodworking since a young age, making furniture, toys and various household items. He played with carving and pyrography (woodburning) over the years and has since incorporated both into his art pieces. Joe acquired a lathe in 2018 and fell in love with woodturning. With the children growing up and leaving home, and retirement in 2022, Joe has had extra time to explore his woodworking hobby. Working with wood is exciting and challenging. You never know what is going to be on the inside and how the wood will react to a particular cut. Grain patterns and movement emerge as the piece is formed. Each wood species has its own characteristics in hardness, tightness of grain, color, aging, warping, etc., all of which lends challenge and excitement to the process.
You can find Joe's work at Gallery 24.

Artist Spotlight: Ann Riggott

I am an oil painter in the traditional realist style. Born and raised in Rochester, I have been painting for 36 years now. Sometimes I desire my work to tell a story and other times I want to draw one's attention to the ordinary in life that one might otherwise pass by. I love painting birds, sheep, ocean waves, lake scene and reflective objects. My most recent work are pastoral scenes.

Artist Spotlight:
Jessica Hobson, Beautifully Created, joyfully explores the natural beauty around and within us through her carefully crafted botanical artwork. This self-taught artist has been pressing flowers for as long as she can remember and in 2015 began experimenting with using these pressed leaves and flowers as a medium for creating simple maps and animals. Constantly fascinated by the intricate detail and beauty of flowers paired with a background in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation, Jessica loves exploring and learning about the natural world around her and this in turn inspires the cartography and local flora and fauna seen in her pieces. As she interacts with her surrounding environment, her pressed flower art pieces naturally continue to grow and change. Through her artwork, she invites everyone to draw closer and linger for a moment in fascination and wonder at the natural world around us and realize that we are also intricately and beautifully created. Jessica is currently based in Rochester, MN and has found inspiration, challenges, and unique opportunities to share her artwork while traveling and living abroad. Her art is found in private collections in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, England, Grenada, and Europe.
