Monroe County Recruit Training Program

We would like to congratulate Monroe County’s newest recruit class upon their successful, 100% completion of the Candidate Physical Aptitude Test (CPAT) this morning. Recruits from the Ridge Road Fire District, Henrietta Fire District, Irondequoit Fire District, Fishers Fire District, Gates Fire District Headquarters, Barnard Professional Firefighters Local 4030, Lake Shore FD - Monroe County, and the City of Canandaigua Department have spent countless hours over the past 14 weeks with our PT instructors preparing for this test. Physical fitness is a huge component of doing this job, and the proper physical conditioning of our recruits ensures they are able to effectively perform their job requirements when they come to the line later this month. Congrats to all!

This afternoon Monroe County Recruit Training Program Class #8 held the Peyton Morse Hero Workout. Since Class #3 (2021-1) all Henrietta Fire District led academies have honored Peyton by completing the workout. Today's participants included alumni from previous classes, on-duty career staff, instructors, and class #8 (2023-2).

The Peyton Morse Hero Workout:
Buy-In 24 cadence burpees. Then with a Partner. 5 rounds of 3 exercises (Peyton's Birthday is May 3rd) 10 Sit-ups, 30 Mountain Climbers, 94 Jumping Jacks (Peyton's City of Watertown badge number).

Thanks to Metalico Rochester, the MCTRP Class 6 received 12 cars and 2 days of hands-on training in motor vehicle rescue and extrication techniques.

A BIG thank you to Instructors Donovan, Gates, Yale, Hammond, Ballou, and Clark for the expertise and knowledge they shared.
