Rochester rainbow friends and family,

First, I want to remember the victims of Pulse. 10 years ago on June 12th, 49 members of our LGBTQ+ family were killed in a place of safety and community while another 58 were wounded. Pulse joins countless attacks on our people and places of safety such as Club Q and the Upstairs Lounge Arson. Today we still face forces that attempt to erase us from history, yet we persevere. Our community is built on resisting those who wish to destroy us. That resistance and resilience is our strength.

One action you can take today to show that our community stands firm is to share Next Generation Men Of Transition’s Rochester-Monroe Trans Community Needs Assessment. All too often decisions are made around policy, law, advocacy, and funding that ignore the Trans community. This effort will help identify service gaps, strengthen advocacy efforts, support future funding opportunities, inform community programming, and contribute to Rochester’s first-ever Trans Pride Fest and community impact report. If you are a member of the Trans and gender expansive community, you can take the survey at the QR code in the flyer or the link in the comments.

As we continue through the first of Rochester’s two Pride months, we’ll be tabling at an ever-increasing number of events, please stop by and say hi!
• Pride Day at the Zoo, 6/13
• Trevor Project Fundraiser @ Culver Rd Armory, 6/14
• Henrietta Pride, 6/15
• Ibero Pride, 6/28
• Pride Picnic, 7/12
• Pride Parade and Festival, 7/18

Finally, we’re getting ever more excited about The Empty Closet re-launch! I’ve seen some of the draft pages and they’re amazing! We hope you can stop by the re-launch event on June 28th and pick up your very own copy between 2 and 4 pm. Join us afterwards at Flora from 4 pm onwards for a post-launch party at Rochester’s newest Q***r bar!

Yours in Pride,

Andrew Moran
President

Rochester, and so many others!

Thank you to all the members of the Giving Circle and the Rochester Area Community Foundation for supporting the LGBTQ+ community! A special thanks to Jonathan Rosenfeld and Dr. Jerry Fisher for providing a $15,000 matching grant to the circle!
