Tomorrow is our very last Lego Club for the school year! Come by in the afternoon to finish your builds and have some fun with friends. We'll be taking a break to focus on the summer reading program, but Lego Club will be back in the fall. In the meantime, we have LOTS of fun events coming up all summer long at the library!

In 1998, 17-year-old Rochester Eagle Scout and Old Colony student David Santos built a gazebo for Plumb Library. He did the fundraising himself, raising over $5,000 for the project. David and other members of Troop 31 then built the gazebo, installed a path, and took care of landscaping and plantings around the gazebo. At the time, the gazebo was located behind the library - it was moved to its current location in 2007 and became part of the Reading Garden constructed in memory of Steven Santos in 2008.

Have you had a chance to check out the new Trail Tale yet? Now that everything's bloomed, it's a perfect time to enjoy the trail and snail story at the Shoolman Nature Preserve. We loved seeing all the fun notes that people have left so far!

Olive B. Winslow was Library Director from 1941-1983 and oversaw the move from the library's location in Town Hall over to the new Plumb Library building in 1976. Her work is recorded in several books of handwritten Trustee Meeting Minutes stored in the library's archives, along with newspaper clippings and cards received in the mail. Around 2005, the Friends of Plumb Library planted three trees in memory of Olive Winslow, Eunice Winslow Jenkins, and Althea Fearing. The Franklinia tree planted for Olive is named after Benjamin Franklin, who started the first town-supported free public library in Franklin, Massachusetts.

Lego Club is this afternoon! Stop by after school to explore your creativity and play with friends!

This will be our second to last Lego Club of the school year; we will hold one last club on June 2nd before Summer Reading starts. If you've been working on a build, make sure you stop by the library to finish it before we put the Legos away for the summer!
