We're always looking for additional volunteers to help us staff our daily 2-3 hour front desk shifts twice a month. Shift volunteers work with other experienced volunteers, get to know our guests and visitors, and help us continue to serve the greater Rochester community.

Do you have questions about how our community responds to homelessness?

Maybe you’ve wondered what resources exist in Rochester.
Or how different organizations work together to help people move from crisis to stability.
Or what happens between outreach, housing, healthcare, and long-term support.

On Thursday, March 12, The Landing MN is hosting the C2 Forum: From Homelessness to Housing – A Continuum of Community, Support & Belonging, bringing together local organizations working across the homelessness response system in Olmsted County.

Throughout the evening, partner agencies will share how they collaborate to support individuals experiencing homelessness at every stage — from crisis response to housing and community belonging.

But just as important is your voice.

We’ll close the evening with a community Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to ask questions directly to the organizations doing this work every day. If you’ve ever wanted to better understand how our community addresses homelessness, this is your chance to be part of the conversation.

Hey friends! We‘re looking for additional meal volunteers to help serve our 6 p.m. dinner to guests. We have an immediate opening tomorrow night (Thursday, January 22), and consistent openings on the 1st Monday, 4th Wednesday, and 2nd and 4th Thursdays Of each month.

HIRING: The Dorothy Day House is looking for someone to fill one of our overnight positions as soon as possible. In exchange for free room and board at the overnighter house next door, this role is responsible for overnight coverage three nights a week, every other week. Orientation is provided, and this could be an ideal position for retirees, college students, or working individuals looking to save money.

Are you looking for an opportunity to serve the community? We are in need of additional shift volunteers and would love to meet you!

The Dorothy Day House is an emergency shelter that houses up to 20 individuals facing homelessness in the Rochester community. Since 1984, the House has been fully staffed and managed by volunteers working daily 7-9 a.m., 4-7 p.m., and 7-9:40 p.m. shifts. Duties include checking guests in, managing meals and snacks during visiting hours, and treating all who enter the house with respect and hospitality.
