Family Promise Rochester

Family Promise Rochester Family Promise has been helping families experiencing homelessness since 1999. Families can stay in shelter up to 120 days.

Family Promise Rochester (formerly "IHN" or Interfaith Hospitality Network), is a nonprofit helping families experiencing homelessness. Family Promise Rochester provides these families the basic necessities of food, shelter and security while they are going through their personal crisis. In addition families receive case management and education through twice monthly Life Skills Classes. Our North Star House shelter has 3 bedrooms and 2 offices with an ED and case manager.

We are almost out of paper towels and they get used a lot in the Promise House.

We are also very low on bathroom body towels for our guests and gas gift cards to help all families across all our programs.

Summer is almost here for the families staying at Promise House.

We are grateful to Scheels of Rochester for their generous donation of family fun indoor and outdoor goods. Our families have many options to use while the weather is nice and the kids are on summer break.

One year ago today, I walked into Family Promise Rochester not entirely sure what I was getting myself into as the Executive Director. (Spoiler: it was a lot. The best kind of a lot.)

This past year has been full of challenges, meaningful work, big ideas, trial and error, and more than a few moments that reminded me exactly why this work matters. I've had the privilege of learning from an incredible team, walking alongside families navigating some of their hardest moments, and being part of a community that genuinely shows up for one another.

I didn't expect to feel this at home this fast. That's not something you can manufacture — it's something you're lucky enough to find.

So thank you — to my team, to our partners, board members, volunteers, donors, and to everyone who trusts us to do this work well. I don't take that lightly.

Year two, let's go. 🏠✨
