🎨🎶 Art, Music & Connection at Memory Café

Last Friday, OPC’s monthly Memory Café welcomed guests for a creative afternoon of watercolor painting and music. In collaboration with Paint a Miracle, attendees learned to paint watercolor flowers directly onto sheet music while listening to classical music — creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces. 🌸

Memory Café is a complimentary program open to the public, providing a welcoming and supportive space for individuals living with memory loss and their care partners.

This ongoing collaboration is made possible through a grant from CultureSource and is sponsored by Waltonwood Main

🎶 Join us Friday, September 25 at 1pm, for our next Memory Café featuring music therapy! RSVP by calling Kerri Gentry at 248-659-1036. We hope to see you there.

We've had a few bittersweet events at OPC as we celebrated the retirements of two incredible women.

After 15 wonderful years, our beloved Member Services Representative, Shirley, retired. Since March 7, 2011, Shirley has brightened the OPC with her award-winning smile and warmed our days with her genuine care for our members, guests, and fellow team members. She's always lived by one simple motto: "Whatever it takes!" and she truly meant it. We are so happy for her to enjoy her retirement and look forward to seeing her back in OPC soon!

And today, after 20 incredible years of providing compassionate care for OPC Members at the Henry Ford Wellness Center, our dear Nurse Cindy retired. She was described as someone who genuinely cares. Those who visited her felt truly seen and heard when they were in her office. We are incredibly grateful for the two decades of deep care, laughter, and support she has given to all us, and we wish her nothing but the best as she starts this exciting new chapter.

Congratulations to both Cindy and Shirley on their retirement and thank you for your time here at OPC!

✨ Age is just a number... and what an incredible number it is! ✨

This year’s OPC Nonagenarian Celebration honored over 40 members who are 90 years young and beyond, including three centenarians! 💙

From smiling photo booth moments proudly holding their age to sharing a lifetime of wisdom, every guest reminded us that a life well-lived is something to celebrate.

When asked for her secret to a long, happy life, June, 102, said it best:
💛 “Don’t worry, be happy!”

Others shared advice that never goes out of style:
🚶 Stay active
💪 Keep moving
😊 Be Kind

Thank you to our remarkable members for inspiring us with your resilience, optimism, and the wisdom you’ve gathered over the years. Here’s to celebrating every milestone and the lives that continue to enrich OPC and our community. ❤️

The stage was filled with talent, confidence, and inspiration at this year's Ms. Senior Michigan Pageant! 💜

For 19 years, OPC has been honored to host this incredible event, celebrating women who prove that aging is not a limitation—it's an opportunity to shine even brighter.

This year's 11 contestants showcased an amazing variety of talents, including bodybuilding, baking, piano, dancing, singing, and motivational speaking. Each contestant was evaluated on Interview (30%), Talent (30%), Philosophy of Life (30%), and Poise (20%)—and every woman brought something truly special to the stage.

Congratulations to our winners:
🏆 Ms. Senior Michigan: Pamela Kay Pearce
🥈 First Runner-Up: Aggie Fisk
🥉 Second Runner-Up: Margreat Handley

The audience was also treated to inspiring performances from past queens and a powerful message from Ms. Senior America 2025–2026, who reminded us that becoming a senior isn't about slowing down—it's about moving the finish line.

At OPC, we couldn't be prouder of every contestant who stepped outside of their comfort zone, shared their talents, and inspired others to do the same. Events like this help challenge the stereotypes of aging and remind us that it's never too late to pursue a passion, learn something new, or embrace a new adventure.

Here's to celebrating confidence, courage, and the incredible possibilities that come with every stage of life. Congratulations to all who participated—you are an inspiration to us all! 💜✨
