Community Food Response - Rochester, MN "Rescuing excess prepared food for hungry Rochester families."

We are:
A non-profit, volunteer-led organization serving hungry adults and children in the Rochester area since 1993. Volunteer drivers collect food donations from restaurants, cafeterias, businesses and grocery stores and carry the food to our site. The food is sorted and then distributed to clients, free of charge, to take home or eat elsewhere. In addition to helping people in need, CFR helps r

educe the amount of food waste generated by area restaurants and businesses. We serve:
Adults and families with children in need, many of whom do not qualify for other forms of food assistance. No one is turned away, and clients don’t have to provide financial or employment information to qualify for this program or receive food.

It may be silly, but among my top skill sets is finding great stuff on the side of the road. I picked up this table a few days ago. We really needed a second table to put outside at CFR for the random stuff that we have. But of course I don’t like buying things unless I have to. And then this table was sitting on the side of the road, down a street I wouldn’t even normally go down. It was waiting for us. 😂

We still have a good number of bags today and a lot of fresh sweet corn and cherry tomatoes! We'll be here until we run out or 6pm.

Behold! The entryway project is finished. We made it a public art project by inviting volunteers and clients to write or doodle on large pieces of paper. This paper was hung using an old-fashioned method – wheat paste. We got an old bag of flour that was broken, and that’s what I used to adhere the paper to the wall.

Almost everything else is up-cycled, bought secondhand, or found at the Olmsted County Reuse Center.

I wanted this project to reflect our values as an organization. Many thanks to everyone who helped make this happen!
