Get your solar lights and lanterns charged and ready for use. We have camping lights. Charge them in south facing windows in the winter, and place them outside in the summer. Remember, there is a boycott of Amazon (should you decide to participate), so if you need to purchase these items, purchase locally, and before prices go up due to the China tariffs. I have seen info where people have even puchased solar lights for $1 each at discount stores like Dollar General etc, but call first to make sure they are in stock. You don't want to waste gasoline driving from store to store, because gasoline prices will be going up too. Go on the Efficiency Vermont website, and the Department of Energy website, to find out more info on how you can save on electricity bills. Use the search bar, and type in "Electricity" for Efficiency Vermont, and "Energy Savings Hub" for the Dept of Energy.

The 10% energy tariff from Canada remains, and Ontario will have a 25% upcharge on electricity sent to the US. Vermont uses $775 million of electricity and $420 million of fossil fuels from Canada every year.

Staples recycles used writing instruments. I just dropped off a bag of empty pens and highlighters. Good way to elimate these items from going into the trash and landfills.
