Congratulations to our small businesses who've just marked new milestones here in the neighborhood!
High End New York will be celebrating their one year anniversary with two events tomorrow, Marilla's Mindful Supplies' South Wedge location held a fun party over the weekend, and Cheesy Eddie's had their 50th last month. Our small businesses help make the neighborhood what it is, so let's celebrate with them!

Commotion Dance Theater returns to the ESL Rochester Fringe Festival with entertaining and evocative dances that incorporate live music, poetry, and shiny red objects! Performances are Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20 at 6:00 pm at the Rose Room, 295 Gregory Street, Rochester.
Admission is free, no ticket required, right here in the South Wedge!

Ruben T. Ornelas will offer dances to the music of Neo-Romantic Mexican composers, Manuel Ponce, Felipe Villanueva, and Silvestre Revueltas, performed live by pianist Kevin Wang, and violinist Cynthia Qiyue He. Ornelas will also present, “Trozos,” a dance theater work to poems by Mexican American poet José Olivarez.

Laurie MacFarlane will present “Mostly Red,” a dreamlike trio in which characters move through space like magpies collecting shiny red objects for their nests. The piece is performed to an original sound score by composer and Emmy award winning music editor Dan Farkas.

Performers include Nanako Horikawa Mandrino, Alaina Olivieri, Ruben T. Ornelas, Cynthia Qiyue He, Kevin Wang, and Roy Wood.

This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of The Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts; and through the sponsorship of the South Wedge Planning Committee.

With the Pet Parade opening the South Wedge Festival, today's focus is on vendors who are all for the 'little guys'. Whether it's dog treats, tiny cat art, crochet lovies, or onesies with the internet's favorite little guy, Jimothy, you'll see it at South Wedge Fest this Saturday.

A special added treat; The Sudsy Snout will be hosting a Pet Photo event during the festival near the Gregory entrance.

This Saturday, come on down to the South Wedge, where everyone's our neighbor! For one day only, see South Avenue transform into a festival celebrating all things local. Music, dance, art, and small businesses will fill the street starting at 11:00am. Don't forget to meet your furriest neighbors at the opening Pet Parade!
