Last Wednesday, we applied sealant to The TABLE mural, with all the wonderful details that Alejandro Castañon and Shelby added for people’s journeys from night to day, dark to light, as they go through experiences of homelessness in the “Land of Encampment.”

The sealant is going on! Alejandro Castañon primed this site on July 10 and is sealing the mural on August 26. What a creative journey it has been!

The TABLE mural is done! Tomorrow morning, we’ll apply the sealant.

The city will then cover up the mural to protect it during their construction on the bridge beams. We’ll hold a ribbon cutting in November.

Today’s update: Alejandro Castañon added details to existing scenes to further personalize them.

Members of The TABLE, a 15-member collective of individuals who have experienced homelessness and/or housing precarity, each provided a representation of something of significance to them, which Alejandro then wove into the design.

Mayo Clinic medical students in the ZVMS Rural Medicine selective are in Dodge Center for a safeTALK training to create a suicide-safer community.

Mural update: Alejandro Castañon and Shelby have been adding lots of details as they move towards completing the mural in just a few days.

On Tuesday, August 11, we launched Year 6 of the ZVMS Street Medicine elective for Mayo Clinic medical students. 60% of the 1st-year class is participating in the elective.

We held Tuesday’s orientation at the Catholic Charities overnight shelter and featured a panel of members of The TABLE (https://zvms.org/thetablemn/). And, The Landing MN, Dorothy Day Hospitality House - Homeless shelter in Rochester, MN, Rochester, MN Salvation Army, and the Catholic Charities overnight shelter gave an overview of their services.
